On December 6-7, 2016 the OPEN Media Hub carried out a Master Class in Broadcast Media Management for TV stations from Ukraine.
During the course participants from nine Ukrainian TV stations worked with the consultant on practical issues related to their media such as running television coverage; breaking news, large news events such as summits, for multiple news strands, which tackle the issues of news production process; Planning / Production / Post / On air, Newsroom workflow, editorial management, storytelling, how to illustrate and articulate divisive issues, individual consultations with the consultant leading the Master Class
The Master Class was led by Zoya Charles (Zoya Trunova) has been a journalist for more than 25 years. During that time she was a BBC television and radio news producer, covering stories around the globe. She worked in Russia, Ukraine, Afghanistan, USA, Israel and many other countries. After years travelling as a Newsgathering producer, she became a senior editor at the BBC in London, running a multimedia newsroom and later the BBC’s Global Video Unit which pioneered innovation in video gathering and multiplatform storytelling techniques. The unit was the first to use drone cameras for news aerial photography. Before joining the BBC, Zoya worked for Reuters TV as a video producer.She also has extensive media and journalism training experience, including as the director of an Internews Journalism training school.She lives in London.
