Eleven print and online media managers from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Palestine, Tunisia and Ukraine participated with OPEN Media Hub support in the European Newspaper Congress in Vienna on May 13-16, 2018. This top-class industry event was dedicated to managing digital multimedia channels, increasing overall revenues, optimizing platform integration and key development trends for print and online media. It was an opportunity to meet and exchange experience with hundreds of media managers from all over Europe and beyond. Among the media presenting their best practice in digitalization, monetisation of content and use of advanced IT tools such as immersive reporting, virtual reality and 360° video were Die Zeit, Handelsblatt, Die Presse, Gazeta Wyborcza, Hospodarske Noviny, but also Georgia Today, Ukrayinsky Tyzhden (Ukrainian Weekly) and Kommersant (Russia).
The advantage of guided participation
To further increase the value of the event, the OPEN Media Hub participants were guided through the Congress by Veselin Vachkov, CEO of Czech newspaper Lidove Noviny. Mr. Vachkov also hosted a one-day follow up workshop focused on the practical lessons learned and the management solutions discussed at the Congress and their applicability for the media in the Neighboirhood. For the managers, this was also an opportunity to follow up with Veselin Vachkov who has led several of the Media Management Master Classes in the Neighbourhood, and is the author of the Maximising Print and Online Revenues online course.
