OPEN Media Hub

The Project OPEN Media Hub: Networking, on-the-job training and support to media professionals across the EU Neighbourhood area (EuropeAid/136510/DH/SER/Multi) is part of the European Union Programme OPEN Neighbourhood: opportunities, participation, engagement and networking” and is implemented by a consortium led by Thomson Foundation. The Consortium includes Action Global, European Journalism Centre, Free Press Unlimited, France Médias Monde, Ipsos Mori and Particip. The OPEN Media Hub project follows up on two previous EU funded projects – the Media Neighborhood and the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network.

Details: The story of 72-year-old Abu Fadi who was a teacher in geography in Libya and had a hobby of making handicrafts. He used his hobby and art to teach where he made maps as educational tools and some commmercial projects.
He returned to his home town of Atil, north of Tulkarm where he continued to work on the commercial plates and intended to continue his art.
However, he was diagnosed with cancer in the vocal cords. After the cancer was removed, he returned to his hobby, creating more than 40 paintings and pieces of art. He aims to establish his own exhibition to sell his paintings, to support himself in his senior years, and to offer something useful to society.
