Title: AA Death Certificate Leads to a New Life
Short summary: On August 26, 2014, 24 dead bodies are brought to Sicily, on the same boat as the survivors. They are migrants, mainly Syrians, whose boat was shipwrecked two days earlier. Police Inspector Angelo Milazzo is given the heavy task of identifying them. A mission usually almost impossible: of the 30,000 migrants who died in the past fifteen years trying to cross the Mediterranean, more than 60% have never been identified. Three years later, Milazzo managed for 21 of the 24 victims, thanks in part to Facebook. How hard it is to issue a death cerificate; and what it means to the ones left behind?
