OPEN Media Hub

The Project OPEN Media Hub: Networking, on-the-job training and support to media professionals across the EU Neighbourhood area (EuropeAid/136510/DH/SER/Multi) is part of the European Union Programme OPEN Neighbourhood: opportunities, participation, engagement and networking” and is implemented by a consortium led by Thomson Foundation. The Consortium includes Action Global, European Journalism Centre, Free Press Unlimited, France Médias Monde, Ipsos Mori and Particip. The OPEN Media Hub project follows up on two previous EU funded projects – the Media Neighborhood and the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network.

Title: Mercy Found

Short summary: Mercy is a little girl born on March 21st, 2017 on the Aquarius, a humanitarian boat in the middle of the Mediterranean. Her mother Taiwo, a 35-year-old Nigerian, had been rescued from drowning a few hours earlier. The birth of Mercy was immortalised by reporters aboard the ship. The tweet moved a music group then in Paris, Madame Monsieur who made a song. Mercy. This song represents France at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Mercy retrouvée

Alessandro Puglia et Eric Valmir ont retrouvé Mercy, la petite fille qui a vu le jour sur le pont du navire de l’ONG SOS Méditerranée, quelques heures après que sa mère ait été sauvée de la noyade en haute mer. Mercy a inspiré les Madame Monsieur, qui en ont fait une chanson qui représentera la France à l’Eurovision.
