Moldova Ignores Consumer Protection Legislation

ALL STORIES ARE FREE OF USE WITH ATTRIBUTION TO THE AUTHOR/PRODUCTION OUTLET WITH THE FOLLOWING MENTION: “This production by (name of author(s) from (production outlet) was supported by the OPEN Media Hub with funds provided by the EU”.

14th October 2016

The article is about the language used in the leaflets accompanying medicines and argues that despite legal protections of the consumers and their rights to information the majority of medicines in the autonomous region of Taraclia are being sold without leaflets in Russian or Bulgarian – the two major languages spoken there.

The story provides examples from the EU and informs that the AA and DFTA signed with the EU requires thorough implementation of consumer protection, including the use of the popular regional languages in information materials about all types of products and especially medicine.

It is written in July 2016 by a story by Angelina Gaidarji from the newspaper “Svet” published in Taraclia, Moldova and is available for preview and sharing here.
