Over the last few years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced us to several new characters, while also making sure that we appreciated the old ones. However, every new character has made an important place for themselves in this universe, and also garnered a fan following while doing the same.
Some of these characters included Sylvie from the Loki series, Yelena Belova from the Black Widow movie, and even Kate Bishop from the Hawkeye series. However, one character stood out, caught everyone’s attention, and gave birth to an entire coven of fans, it was none other than Agatha Harkness.
For those of you who don’t know of Agatha, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Those who are well versed with this character would also be aware of the upcoming TV series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
Although the release of this tv series is still a while away, we’re here to tell you about what we know so far because if you’re a fan or even someone who is new to this entire fandom, you must be just curious as we are! Here’s everything we know so far about Agatha: Coven of Chaos:

Before we dive into Agatha: Coven of Chaos, we will give you a little background about the character, Agatha Harkness. This character was created by the legends Jack Kirby and Stan Lee and made her first appearance in the comic Fantastic Four #94 in the year 1970.
Despite being around for so long, Agatha didn’t make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until 2021, in the popular TV series, WandaVision. Agatha or Agnes posed as the nosy neighbor in Wanda’s life in Westview, but it turns out, Agatha Harkness is also one of the most powerful witches who was also one of the original witches from the Salem witch trials. In the MCU, this character has portrayed by the popular Hollywood actress, Kathryn Hahn.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos will be an integral part of Phase 5 of the MCU along with several other series and movies that were announced. After the success of WandaVision, fans were excited to learn more about Agatha, and their wish was granted.
Marvel is great at keeping things under wraps until the very end, but we can make our speculations about Agatha: Coven of Chaos which was originally titled, Agatha: House of Harkness. Since Agatha was one of the original Salem witches, it is entirely possible that this series will travel back in time and tell us more about the origin of Agatha Harkness.
However, these origin tales will most likely be parts of flashbacks, as Agatha: Coven of Chaos will pick up after the events of WandaVision, however, it is still unclear whether it will be placed before Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, or after. Nevertheless, we are hoping it will explore an enchanted Agatha trying to find her way back to dark magic with the help of other characters.
So far, we know for sure that Kathryn Hahn will be reprising her role of Agatha Harkness from WandaVision. Marvel is well-known for casting several big names in Hollywood, and Hahn was the perfect addition.
Hahn is best known for her role in the Bad Mom movie, as well as the popular tv series, Mrs. Fletcher. Another character who will be reprising her role from WandaVision is Dottie, played by Emma Caulfield Ford.
It is still a mystery whether or not she will be an ally, but we think Dottie might like Agnes, but Agatha? Not so much.
Other than these two, other cast members who are joining Agatha: Coven of Chaos are Joe Locke, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, and Aubrey Plaza. It will be interesting to see how these characters fit into the storyline, but it is rumored that Aubrey Plaza might have an antagonistic role. Fans are very curious about whether or not they’ll catch a glimpse of Wanda or Vision, but so far, neither Elizabeth Olsen nor Paul Bettany has confirmed anything. But we know Marvel and its love for cameos, it will be fun to see who might appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
There is no set release date yet, but since it will be a part of Phase 5 of the MCU, it will release in either 2023 or early 2024. Agatha: Coven of Chaos will most likely release during the winter of 2023! Nevertheless, we will keep you posted with any updates. The series will be available to stream on Disney+.
So far, there’s no official trailer released by Marvel just yet, however, there are several fan-made trailers that give us a little recap of all Agatha’s moments and what the future might hold. We will keep an eye out for any trailer updates and keep this section updated when the time comes!
All MCU superheroes and supervillains deserve a spin-off series of their own, and while that might not be possible just yet, we’re glad Marvel is picking up some fan favorites from the MCU and the comics, and exploring their story a little more.
Stay tuned to learn more about your favorite evil witch, Agatha Harkness and her upcoming show!
