All the Light We Cannot See on Netflix is a version of Anthony Doerr’s 2014 best-selling and Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. The setting of this tale is World War II-era occupied France. Marie Laure, a young blind girl, is forced to abandon the Saint-Maulo castle after the Nazis invade her home. German soldier Werner was adopted as a kid and enlisted in Hitler’s Youth Academy.
They come into contact as they struggle to stay alive among the devastation all around them. It’s a story about how good triumphs even under the worst circumstances. The official summary may be found here at Netflix Media Centre. It claims that the limited series All The Light We Cannot See is a game-changer. The plot centers on Daniel LeBlanc, the father of Marie-Laure, a blind French girl.
To prevent a legendary diamond from slipping into the hands of the Nazis, they depart German-occupied Paris with it. relentlessly pursued by a ruthless Gestapo agent who wants the stone for his self-serving purposes. Daniel and Marie-Laure take up residence with a reclusive uncle in St. Malo, where they quickly find safety.
He participates in the resistance by broadcasting covert radio transmissions. However, Marie-Laure’s path also unavoidably collides with the most unlikely of kindred spirits here in this formerly gorgeous beach city: Werner. Werner is a gifted kid hired by Hitler’s government to find illicit broadcasts but who instead has a close friendship with Marie-Laure.
In September 2021, Netflix launched a significant casting call for its star actors, specifying that they must be blind or low-vision. They’d take the role of Marie-Laure. It was declared that the hunt was over after two months. The lead actress for the new series, Aria Mia Loberti, was revealed in December 2021. The actress’s debut film will be this.
Marie-Laure Leblanc, who is described as thoughtful, inquisitive, and intellectual, will be played by Aria. During the Nazi occupation of France in World War 2, she uses her radio to converse with people in the outside world. Then, in January 2022, two other high-profile castings were revealed, with Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo joining the cast.
Ruffalo, famed for portraying the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will play Daniel Leblanc. He is Marie-Laure’s father and a locksmith at the Museum of Natural History. Despite his line of work, he is committed to providing her kid the best education he can. Laurie, best recognized for her role on House M.D., will portray Etienne Leblanc, a wounded warrior with PTSD.
A young boy named Louis Hofmann was also cast to play Werner Pfennig. Due to his expertise in radio frequency detection, he finds Marie-Laure. Hofmann is most recognized for his role as Jonas Kahnwald in the popular Dark series on Netflix. Dr. Heinrich will be portrayed in the series by Pascal Ulli. He is well-known for his role as Reinhard Küng in the Netflix series Undercover.
Netflix confirmed in April 2023 that the new limited series is set to debut on November 2nd, 2023. All the Light We Cannot See is confirmed to consist of only four one-hour episodes.
The first teaser for All the Light We Cannot See has been released by Netflix. The teaser does not include any character dialogue; instead, a solemn and sweeping piano piece is played. The film follows Marie-Laure’s existence and the tragedies she makes every effort to avoid. Following a brief sequence that alluded to her and the German orphan teen Werner’s potential kindred, we get a glimpse of Marie-Laure when she was younger.
She leads a typical, content life while exploring France’s streets with her father, Daniel LeBlanc. Werner was adopted as a member of Hitler’s government during his formative years. He will be charged with finding broadcasts that protest the Nazi invasion there. When the Nazis march into France and raise their banners, bringing conflict and devastation to Marie-Laure’s doorstep, they are put on a collision course.
Marie-Laure experiences anxiety while staying with her uncle Etienne, even though she and Werner discover an odd bond. In a devastating portrayal of World War II, destruction pours down over France. Von Rumpel, a cunning and avaricious Gestapo officer eager to get his hands on the diamond they are holding, poses the largest threat to her family. Throughout the teaser, Marie-Laure experiences peaceful moments despite everything around her disintegrating, demonstrating her capacity to find the positive in a terrible circumstance.
