The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now at the end of phase 4. There are two titles remaining that are yet to be released, which are Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The latter will mark the end of Phase 4 of the MCU. But lucky for the fans, this isn’t the end of the MCU, in fact, we still have a long way to go. Several titles have been announced already, while others are still speculations and theories. One such speculated movie is Avengers: Age of Galactus.
We’d be lying if we said that we didn’t miss the Avengers movie. There are still several standalone movies and TV shows that feature the Avengers, for example, the Black Widow movie, or the Hawkeye series, but none of these have the same impact as Avengers: Age of Ultron or Avengers: Infinity War. In fact, one of the most popular MCU movies was Captain America: Civil War, and although it was a Captain America movie, it gained popularity because it involved all the Avengers together, and people have the same hope for Avengers: Age of Galactus.
If you thought Thanos was the biggest villain Marvel has seen so far, you’ll have to do a double-take when you hear about Galactus. Marvel comics have a range of villains with some very strong powers and the ability to kill people with simply a snap. Galactus however, takes the cake when it comes to being evil. Originally, Galactus was a mortal man, but eventually, he went on to become a cosmic entity. But, what makes him so dangerous? Galactus doesn’t need food, air, or water to continue living, instead, he needs entire planets. Yes, you read that right. To sustain his life force, Galactus consumes planets as a whole. Galactus is the devourer of the world.
Galactus has appeared in many Marvel comics over the decades, and some of those include Thor, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Four, and The Ultimates. So it’s safe to say that this character could likely appear in any MCU movie that releases in the next few years. But, given how strong this character is, he could have an entire movie to himself, hence bringing us Avengers: Age of Galactus.
If MCU were to release Avengers: Age of Galactus, this is one movie where they could bring in as many characters as possible. Right now, Hawkeye, Thor, Kate Bishop, She-Hulk, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain America, and Ant-Man are some of the front runners to be the new Avengers team. There are also the Thunderbolts which include U.S Agent, Black Widow (Yelena), The Winter Soldier, and many more. Any of these characters could possibly appear in the Avengers: Age of Galactus movie, but let’s face it, we would love to see Thor, Sam Wilson, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man trying to agree on one thing!
There are rumors that Galactus could potentially be seen in a project like Eternals 2 before he gets a movie of his own. At this point, because these are all theories, there isn’t much we can confirm. However, we would like to know in the comments which superhero would you like to see against Galactus. (we vote for Thor!)
Since Galactus has appeared in the Fantastic Four comics before, there could be a link there. A new Fantastic Four movie is due to release in 2025, so maybe Avengers: Age of Galactus will release somewhere around that. It is likely that if Avengers: Age of Galactus is to release, it will be later in 2025 after all the upcoming Marvel heroes and supervillains have been established.
So there is a long wait and a level of uncertainty when it comes to this movie, but fans can hope. However, at some point or another, MCU will surely introduce Galactus in its movies or series, whether that is with all Avengers, Fantastic Four, or even just Doctor Strange is still a question mark.
Since Marvel has made no official announcement regarding this movie, it is unlikely that we will see an official teaser or trailer of Avengers: Age of Galactus for a while. However, there is a fan-made trailer, which is far from anything official but actually gives us a little idea of what to expect.
This trailer features Sam Wilson, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and even Spider-Man. Although we are unsure about just how many of these appearances are accurate, what we do know is that Galactus will cause some major destruction to civilization. Until 2024 or 2025, we will have to make do with fan-made trailers.
The next big villain that the MCU is going to bring out is Kang, who will be an integral part of Phase 5 of the MCU. After Kang, there is a possibility that Doctor Doom or the Thunderbolts will pose as supervillains, and maybe after that, it will be the age of Galactus.
