There will be actions, and the couple will not talk to each other, then new characters will come, then it will become a love triangle than a square, a pentagon, and it will keep going, but Kaguya sama said ‘No’ we won’t take the usual path.
The story goes like this President Miyuki and Vice president Kaguya love each other and they know that the other person is in love with them too, then what’s the issue here? The problem lies in their pride in not bowing down in front of others in any circumstances. Now the war starts between two love birds where each side tries anything to make the other party confess their feelings.
2. Violet Evergarden
Many people may disagree with Violet Evergarden taking up the 2nd rank in the list of Best Romance Anime 2023, but I would say this anime is bittersweet with a unique plot free from cliches.
Violet Evergarden is a story of a young lady who tries to find a place in a country after a war where her senior left her with his last words saying “I love you from the bottom of my heart” is a living weapon whose only purpose was to kill her enemies she didn’t know the meaning of the words nor even the emotions behind them.
To find her purpose in life and know what her senior meant; by those words, she started working as ‘Auto Memories Dolls’ and met people and came across their different forms of love.
Her story started with the love of the Prince and princess, the love of brother and sister, the love of a father and daughter, the love of mother and daughter, and finally with the love of a guy to his crush just to know the meaning that her senior told her. This sneak peek is just for season 1; there is a season 2 and movies also.
The animation is just amazing I; still, remember when violet tried to run on water holding an umbrella; the scene was just satisfying to watch. the character storyline is great, even if it’s just a couple of episodes the author has beautifully given us the depth, the emotions attached to the reason, and the most important part, what’s the love in those few episodes.
3. Golden Time
You may have fallen in love but it hurts too right? and that’s what the theme of this heartbreaking yet rom-com anime is. Love is supposed to make you feel at home but what if that home crumbles down? What if the home you built got stolen by someone else? Love triangles are indeed a cliche, but the anime used this cliche so well that you will feel sorry for the characters.
Golden Time teaches us that not everyone will have a happy ending yet if you truly love someone then nothing is impossible too. Now with its excellent humor and melodrama, it has taken the 4th rank in the list of Best Romance Anime 2023.
Trust me, the anime will leave you with tears and a broken heart so watch at your own risk. Despite the negative reviews and average ratings, I think it makes up a good rom-com that has been ignored because people watch too many mainstream anime. Golden Time is realistic with a brilliant soundtrack and visuals that you must try at least once.
4. Chihayafuru
Everything from visuals to sound is gorgeous. If you are a fan of Japanese traditional games then you will love this one for sure. Chihayafuru will make your heart throb, and no it’s not like another high school romance but rather more focused on an indoor game called Katura.
After watching Chihayafuru I guarantee you that you will also take out cards and try to play like them. The story is light yet filled with vibrant colors. With each episode, the series evolves and reaches new heights along with the romantic relationship. If you are looking for something apart from normal high school romance, then; this should be your pick.
5. Kamisama Kiss
Kamisama Kiss is one of my favorite picks when it comes to binge watch anime on a date. You may wonder why? well because it’s sweet, hilarious, and has just the right amount of action that I need.
One thing; that I; hate is that the series has very few episodes and ends very quickly, yet it has a good fan base after 10 years, so yes, it should be one of your picks from Best Romance Anime 2023.
The story is about a homeless human turning into a God and getting a Shinshi (servant kinda) who protects and takes care of her. As they live their life together many other elements come into play making their life challenging.
6. Horimiya
How can we miss the latest romance anime Horimiya which had captivated the audience from all over the world with its character design and wholesome story? You must have noticed that cliches make anime boring, and the anime does everything that you would not have expected.
The characters are the life of the anime, and without them, the story would die. The juxtaposition of characters makes the anime interesting to watch. Plus, I fell head over heels for Miyamura! If you are free on weekends, make sure to binge-watch this anime in one go!
7. Kaichou wa Maid-Sama
Kaichou wa Maid-sama is a shoujo anime with romance that you crave in your life. Boyfriends beware! because if you let your girlfriends watch this anime then they will surely fall in love with a fictional character.
There is the least physical connection yet; the dialogues and actions will make your heartbeat run like Usain Bolt! Maid Sama, a sweet lighthearted romance is old but a gold anime because it’s still loved by many people from around the world.
