In recent years, we’ve seen a number of true crime docuseries and crime-themed dramas come to the small screen, and almost everyone enjoys watching them. If you seek the thrills and chills of a good mystery and love to indulge in the angst and theatrics of a teen drama, then we might have just the show for you. Netflix’s Blood & Water is returning for a third season, and we’re sure there are plenty of unexpected twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
While it is always interesting to see the American high-school drama, Blood & Water gives us an insight to the South African culture and the lives of young adults there. Blood & Water season 2 finale left us with a lot of emotions and questions, and hopefully Blood & Water Season 3 will anwers these questions. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming season so far, from the plot, to the cast and much more:

Fikile Bhele, star of the swim team at the prestigious Parkhurst College, is celebrating her birthday, and Puleng Khumalo scores an invitation to her party. When Wade, a mutual friend, points out the resemblance between Fikile and Puleng, Puleng decides she has some investigating to do. Her older sister, Phume, was abducted at birth, and Fikile not only looks like Puleng, but also has the same birthday as Phume. Puleng begins to think that Fikile could be her long-lost sister, so she transfers schools and enrolls at Parkhurst in order to solve the mystery.
Unfortunately, though, Puleng learns that her family and friends might be keeping more secrets than they previously let on. As the story continues, Puleng discovers that Phume was stolen from her parents by a child trafficking syndicate. The more information she obtains about the syndicate, the more danger she puts herself in. Judging by where things left off in the Season 2 finale, it’s possible that Season 3 of Blood & Water will be its darkest yet.
South African actress Ama Qamata stars as Puleng Khamalo. Born Amamkele Lithemba Qamata. Born in the Eastern Cape village of Cala and raised in Johannesburg, Qamata began acting as a child in school productions and eventually booked spots in television ads. She once enrolled at the University of Cape Town – where Blood & Water is sometimes filmed – for a Theatre and Performance degree, but left in order to pursue her acting career full-time. Qamata also has appeared on the sitcom My Perfect Family and the Mzansi Magic series Gomora.
The role of Fikile Bhele is actress Khosi Ngema’s first major credit. Also from South Africa, Ngema comes from a family of entertainers – her father is an actor, composer, and filmmaker, and her grandmother was a musician. She is a singer and musician, as well, and has hinted at working on a music project of her own. In 2021, she launched a jewelry line in collaboration with Grace the Brand.
We’re not sure how many episodes are coming, but there were six in Season 1 and seven in Season 2. Season 3 of Blood & Water will be available to stream on Netflix on the 25th of November, 2022! So, make sure you mark the date on your calendars and get ready for the dramatic binge!
The official trailer for Blood & Water Season 3 was released a few days ago and if you thought you were ready for this season, think again! The trailer gives us a peak into what’s about to happen in Blood & Water Season 3, and by the looks of it, there will be more explosions than ever before. This season looks more dramatic than the previous ones, which is saying something. Undoubtedly, friendships, relationships, and much more will be put to test this season. What we do know for sure is that all our favorite cast members look good and ready for another season of Blood & Water.
At the moment, there are no updates for another season, but given the growth of the show every season, it is possible that it will be renewed for another season at some point after the release of Blood & Water Season 3. We are certain if the show gets canceled, fans will riot over losing one of the best South African originals on Netflix right now!
While we all love Hollywood, it is also important to pay good attention to movies and shows from the rest of the world. Blood & Water is Netflix’s second South African original series, which is proof that there need to be more! As compared to other teen dramas, Blood & Water isn’t nearly as popular but is slowly and steadily emerging as the underdog of Netflix originals. Hopefully, the release of Blood & Water Season 3 will garner more attention, and eventually put it on the top!
