If you’ve been to the movies or watched TV in the last ten to fifteen years, we’re willing to bet you’ve seen Chris Pratt at least once. He’s done a little bit of everything, including starring roles and supporting roles across genres like comedy, fantasy, and adventure.

Christopher Michael Pratt was born on the 21st of June, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota. When he was about seven years old, his family relocated to Lake Stevens, Washington, where he participated in track, shot put, and wrestling while in high school. He dropped out of community college in 1997 halfway through his first semester and worked as a daytime stripper, eventually ending up living in a van on the beach in Maui, Hawaii. While working as a waiter in Maui, he was discovered by actress Rae Dawn Chong, who cast him in her directorial debut, Cursed Part 3.
He landed a regular television role on the series Everwood and later had a recurring role on The O.C. He finally made a breakthrough when he was cast as Andy Dwyer on the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation in 2009 and remained on the show until its end in 2015.
Finally, in 2014, Pratt became well-known for starring as Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy. In November 2013, he was also cast in the ongoing film series Jurassic World, in the role of Owen Grady, a velociraptor trainer. He also has voiced characters in a number of animated features, such as Disney/Pixar’s Onward and the upcoming adaptation of the comic strip Garfield. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 21, 2017.

Pratt’s parents are Kathleen Indahl, who worked at a Safeway supermarket when he was growing up, and Daniel Clifton Pratt, a miner who sadly died of multiple sclerosis in 2014. He has two older siblings, Cully and Angie. Pratt is father to three children.
His eldest, Jack, with ex-wife Anna Faris, was born nine weeks premature in August 2012. Today, he is a perfectly healthy ten-year-old boy. Pratt has two daughters with Katherine Schwarzenegger, his current wife. Their names are Lyla and Eloise, born in 2020 and 2022.

Chris Pratt has only been in a handful of public relationships. His first known Hollywood relationship was with his Everwood co-star Emily VanCamp from 2004 to 2006. In 2007, he met actress Anna Faris on the set of Take Me Home Tonight, and the two became inseparable. They eloped in 2009 in Bali, Indonesia, and welcomed their only child, Jack, in 2012. Unfortunately, they separated in August 2017 and finalized their divorce in 2018.
At present, Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, the daughter of actor-turned-politican Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver of the Kennedy family. They began seeing each other in June 2018 and became engaged in January 2019. Since marrying in June 2019, they have welcomed two daughters, Lyla Maria and Eloise Christina.
Additionally, Pratt has been linked to actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Olivia Munn, but these relationships were never confirmed.
Philanthropy and Politics
Pratt has made a number of charitable contributions throughout his career. In 2015, he and ex-wife Anna Faris donated $1 million dollars to an organization providing eyeglasses to underprivileged children.
They have also donated to the March of Dimes and the neonatal intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. A teen center in his hometown of Lake Stevens, Washington, was named in memory of his father after he donated $500,000 towards building the center.
In the last year or so, he has donated upwards of $130,000 to several charities working to end hunger, particularly among those struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although he did donate over $1,000 to former US President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign, he typically leans more conservative when he is vocal about his political opinions.
He is a non-denominational Christian, and in 2022, he faced significant backlash after stating that he attends the Zoe Church in Los Angeles, which has been criticized as an anti-LGBTQ+ institution.
