In the third and final film, Bale earned a base salary of $15 million. He was offered $50 million to appear in a fourth film and another $50 million to make an appearance in a Justice League film, but he turned down both offers.

Christian Charles Philip Bale was in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales, on January 30, 1974. The Bale family left Wales when Christian was only two years old. They relocated to Portugal and Oxfordshire, England, before settling in Bournemouth. Bale has been quoted as saying that his family lived in 15 different towns by the time he was 15, but the frequent relocation was driven by necessity since his mother worked as a clown in a traveling circus. He briefly attended Bournemouth School but left school at age 16. After his parents divorced when he was 17, he moved with his father and his sister Louise to Los Angeles.

Bale trained in ballet as a child, but he did not formally train as an actor. His first role came when he was eight years old, starring in a fabric softener commercial.
