Dead to Me Season 3 Review: A Little Bit of Everything

Dead to Me Season 3 Review: A Little Bit of Everything

There are shows about crime, there are shows about mystery, there are shows about friendships, and there are shows about family. However, one show can rarely encompass all these themes, but over than span of three seasons, the show Dead to Me has managed to do exactly that. Dead to Me Season 3 has finally been released on Netflix and fans have begun the binge, and why wouldn’t they? It’s absolutely brilliant!

Dead to Me Season 3 is important for a lot of reasons, albeit most of them have to do with the storyline and characters, fans have also been emotional watching the show after Christina Applegate’s journey with battling cancer and most recently getting diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Dead to Me Season 3 has highlighted some very important issues along with being packed with entertainment and drama. We will try our best to make this a spoiler-free review as much as we can but tread lightly, nonetheless.

Dead to Me Season 3: An Ode to Friendship

For those who have watched the first two seasons of Dead to Me know that despite all the fun genres this show falls under, it is a story about an unlikely friendship. Who thought that accidents and murders could bring Jen and Judy together? But that’s exactly what happened and Dead to Me Season 3 is proof of their love for each other. This season begins with Jen and Judy chilling on the beach, having a good time, but we know better, considering season 2 of Dead to Me ended in a car accident. Even though the beach scene was only Jen’s hallucination, it did hint towards a happily ever after for Jen and Judy, or at least that’s what they’ve hoped for.

Dead to Me Season 3 Review

Dead to Me Season 3 sees Judy and Jen both go through things separately in their personal lives and of course, they also go through a whole bunch of stuff together, but the way they support each other truly sets an example for female friendships and their representation in media. More often than not, women are pitted against each other in movies and shows, but that’s not the case with Dead to Me Season 3. Together, these two women have formed an undeniable force, and it truly is an ode to friendship.

The Cance Struggle in Dead to Me Season 3

Yes, we had to mention the cance (and no, that isn’t just a typo) A lot of the fans are aware that Christina Applegate was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and underwent a double mastectomy. Despite that, she bounced back stronger than ever, setting an example for her fans and women all over the world. In Dead to Me Season 3, we see Judy go through a cancer scare and it is later revealed that she has stage four cervical cancer. The beauty of this entire plotline isn’t just Jen’s character having to through this for the second time, first with her mother, and now with Judy, but the fact that Christina Applegate’s emotions throughout this season in regards to Judy’s cancer have been raw and heartbreaking.

Fans and critics have applauded Applegate’s performance in Dead to Me Season 3 and most recently, her diagnosis of MS has made everything a lot more emotional for everyone. This might seem like a segue from the show, but Dead to Me Season 3 is Christina Applegate’s season, without a doubt, and it shows in every single episode.

The Cance Struggle in Dead to Me Season 3

The Mystery, The Drama, The Death

Dead to Me Season 3 has been one of the best seasons so far because it has kept everyone on the edge of their seats. We won’t spoil the ending for you, but we will make you aware that every episode will have you biting your nails, wondering when the FBI will come knocking on Jen and Judy’s door. Steve’s body is finally found in Dead to Me Season 3, which was a long time coming. There is even a funeral without his body because it was funeral appropriate. We see more of Steve and Ben’s mother, who is clearly taking the death of her son extremely hard. While the feds deal with Steve’s death, Ben has to deal with his drinking problem, and Perez is losing her hair over the FBI inching closer to figuring everything out. Everyone is simply going through something in Dead to Me Season 3.

The Mystery, The Drama, The Death

It is a chaotic season, for sure, but we say that in the best way possible. Dead to Me Season 3 is filled with several subplots, and if one storyline doesn’t interest you, you won’t have to wait too long for it to pass as they move on to something else pretty quickly. One of the reasons so many things happened at once, methodically, is because Dead to Me Season 3 is the last installment of this show. The creators have managed to wrap everything up with an interesting ending that will leave you thinking about it for days to come.

Conclusion

We couldn’t recommend Dead to Me Season 3 enough even if we tried. This Netflix show has kept everyone on the edge of their seats since it was first released, and now that it’s wrapped up, we can fall feel an empty void on our daily viewing schedule. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Netflix has any other mystery shows lined up to replace Dead to Me, although it will definitely be a tough one to beat. Head over to Netflix to stream all episodes of Dead to Me Season 3!
