What will Demon Slayer Season 3 be about?

Since Demon Slayer Season 3 is a while away, this plot is still speculation based on the Manga series and previous seasons that have premiered. However, we know this season will cover the Swordsmith Village arc of the series, which was confirmed through their official Twitter account.

After a little more research and without giving away too many spoilers, the Swordsmith Village arc will cover chapters 100-127 of the manga series. Those well-versed in the manga probably have a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming season.

If the series’ creators heavily rely on the manga, which would be wise, the series will feature the Swordsmith Village and Tanjiro’s journey to this village to obtain a specific ancient weapon. However, it will be more complex than it seems.

So far, this is all we can gauge about the plot regarding Demon Slayer Season 3, but we hope there will be more to learn about in the future.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Latest News

5 March 2023 Update: After the end of the massive hit series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc, the franchise is returning with another season and one-hour special which will be screened in selected theatres worldwide.

The third season director is Haruo Sotozaki, and character designer and animator Akira Matsushima is returning with the previous main cast for the new arc.

The announcement also shared that the upcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc will release in April along with a one-hour special.

The special world tour Screenings: Demon Slayer: The Upper Ranks Gather and Onward to the Swordsmith Village will be played in theatres in over 80 countries and territories from 3rd February 2023 onwards which will include episodes 10 and 11 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc along with the first Swordsmith Village Arc episode.

Update: The World Tour screenings will take place in the following cities and regions:

  • Japan: February 3 in 418 theaters, including 41 IMAX screens
  • Tokyo: Special screenings along with guest appearances on February 4 and 5
  • Los Angeles: February 18 at The Orpheum Theatre with casts like Natsuki Hanae, Yūma Takahashi, and a performance by Aimer (Tickets sale goes live on January 7 at Ticketmaster)
  • United States and Canada: March 3 in over 1,700 theaters in both English subbed and dubbed versions
  • Paris: February 25 with Yūma Takahashi
  • Berlin: February 26 with Yūma Takahashi
  • Mexico City: March 4 with Natsuki Hanae
  • Seoul: March 11 guest appearances
  • Taipei: March 19 appearance of Natsuki Hanae, Kengo Kawanishi, Kana Hanazawa, Yūma Takahashi

The official Twitter account for the Demon Slayer anime has also leaked the confirmed timing for the release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc. The TV series will be aired on 9 April 2023 at 11:55 pm JST on Fuji TV with a one-hour special.

Besides the announcement they also shared another promotional video and key visual. The promo video shared a glimpse of the opening theme song “Kizuna no Kiseki” (Bonds of Miracle) by MAN WITH A MISSION and milet.

In the previous arc which was the Entertainment District, we not only witnessed some of the most edged battles but scenes which made our eyes filled with tears. The Entertainment arc up to chapter 98 was covered and the story took off with Tanjiro and his Friends accompanying the Hashira named Tengen Uzui to the Entertainment district.

In this arc, while Tengen’s three female ninja agents gather information, Tanjiro and his friends disguise themselves as women to sneak in for an in-depth investigation. As they close in they finally face off against one of the upper moons named Daki.

The battle intensifies as Tengen loses his limbs and gets poisoned. Tanjiro and his friends finally finish off the demon but after this epic battle Tanjiro’s sword ends up in rough shape and the next arc which is the swordsmith arc will cover the part where his new sword gets forged.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Plot & Expectations

Tanjiro and his friends wake up in the hospital, while they get treated Tanjiro’s Sword is set for repair and the swordsmith promises to get him a better one. In this arc, Tanjiro to improve his skills also trains with a mechanical doll built by the people from Swordsmith villagers.

Muzan holds a meeting with the upper moons and plans to attack the village when they’re vulnerable. In this arc, we get to see new types of demons and individual stories behind the Hashiras. The arc focuses more on Hashira and their skills rather than just Tanjiro. During the battle Nezuko’s new ability also gets revealed. Be prepared, as there will be many more deaths to witness in Season 3.
