The Project OPEN Media Hub: Networking, on-the-job training and support to media professionals across the EU Neighbourhood area (EuropeAid/136510/DH/SER/Multi) is part of the European Union Programme OPEN Neighbourhood: opportunities, participation, engagement and networking” and is implemented by a consortium led by Thomson Foundation. The Consortium includes Action Global, European Journalism Centre, Free Press Unlimited, France Médias Monde, Ipsos Mori and Particip. The OPEN Media Hub project follows up on two previous EU funded projects – the Media Neighborhood and the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network.
The OPEN Media Hub is inviting journalists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine to apply for a free trip and top production support to cover the Eastern Partnership Summit on the 24th of November in Brussels. Press details about the event are available here.
The OPEN Media Hub will facilitate your news coverage with a pre-Summit briefing on November 23rd, attendance of the Summit , and state-of-the-art production mentoring on November 25th. You will travel to Brussels on November 22nd and return on November 26th.
In order to be selected, we require interested journalists to pitch for and, if selected, to produce a story ahead of the trip to illustrate EU in action in their country and the Eastern Partnership summit’s key themes:
The Summit will also address political issues such as Armenia’s decision on the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the EU; and the acknowledgement of the European aspirations of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The final selection of participants will be done in consultation with the European Union’s Delegation in your country.
During the event, the services of top journalist mentors and a cameraman/editor with equipment will be provided.
The OPEN Media Hub will be covering the costs of travel, accommodation, meals and insurance, as well as visa costs for the participants who need a visa for Belgium.
PLEASE NOTE: Once selected, you will need to be accredited for the Summit by applying individually to the European Council’s Press Service.
