The Project OPEN Media Hub: Networking, on-the-job training and support to media professionals across the EU Neighbourhood area (EuropeAid/136510/DH/SER/Multi) is part of the European Union Programme OPEN Neighbourhood: opportunities, participation, engagement and networking” and is implemented by a consortium led by Thomson Foundation. The Consortium includes Action Global, European Journalism Centre, Free Press Unlimited, France Médias Monde, Ipsos Mori and Particip. The OPEN Media Hub project follows up on two previous EU funded projects – the Media Neighborhood and the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network.
On January 17-19, 2018, the Open Media Hub Project is organising In-Depth Broadcast Training for 10 TV journalists/cameramen/editors from Lebanese media – a 3-day course on news/feature production focused on editorial, writing and editing skills.
During the course, participating TV crews will produce appealing and informative visual stories editorially relevant to their outlets in a format pertinent for news broadcasts. The stories will be broadcast on the outlets and will be made available on the Open Media Hub’s platform and website, for exchange between participants locally and internationally.
The focus of the training will be Telling an Impactful Story for traditional broadcast and online media.
The training will also focus on the ‘Being 20’ series. Developed and produced by the Open Media Hub, ‘Being 20’ is a series of short 90-second stories depicting the life and aspirations of youth in European Neighbourhood Countries. Each story may then be used by all the participants as a single story or potentially as a series, which we will be developing across the 17 European Neighbourhood countries where we are working. We will later make a call for production and finance the production of some of these stories.
The trainers will be Anthony Headley and Simon Husting, supported locally by Sana Youssef.
Stories will be discussed and selected ahead of the training in liaison with Anthony Headley and Sana Youssef. During the training, participating crews are asked to provide their own filming and editing gear.
