The Project OPEN Media Hub: Networking, on-the-job training and support to media professionals across the EU Neighbourhood area (EuropeAid/136510/DH/SER/Multi) is part of the European Union Programme OPEN Neighbourhood: opportunities, participation, engagement and networking” and is implemented by a consortium led by Thomson Foundation. The Consortium includes Action Global, European Journalism Centre, Free Press Unlimited, France Médias Monde, Ipsos Mori and Particip. The OPEN Media Hub project follows up on two previous EU funded projects – the Media Neighborhood and the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network.
On 3-7 December 2017, the OPEN Media Hub is organising a training in the development of documentaries in Algiers, Algeria
The first such training in the framework of the European Open Media Hub project for the production of documentaries is a part of a series of three training courses and remote mentoring in Algeria. The objective and expected result will be the submission of proposals to the Call for production support of the OPEN Media Hub to obtain the financial means for the production of a documentary (length to be determined according to the means, subjects and needs). The Training is at Algerian Television, which provides its training center premises and equipment. As a public service, Algerian TV accepts that the training is open to freelance or private sector participants.
Target participants: journalists, producers, directors, with experience in documentaries, reports or medium-to-long format interviews (12 to 90 min).
Selection of participants: To participate in the introductory training, the filmmakers must submit their application accompanied by a synopsis of 300 words by 29 November 2017 using the Apply Now link below.

Introduction to documentary and writing of synopsis and budgets: A presentation of documentary techniques, based on the viewing of productions already produced by the participants, of standard documentaries according to the genres (survey, reportage, natural sound only, archives etc. of a format from 12 to 90 minutes) and initial work on the writing of the synopsis / sequencer to implement the principles of story telling, and preparation of a budget.
