Details: | Women make up to 50% of Libyan population, but they are segregated to only a handful of jobs. Leaving wide gaps in many sectors that are understaffed and cannot be filled by men alone. Society has dictated that any woman who works in any field outside of the select approved few are not proper women (Teaching, medicine, housework, secretary & administration). It is not illegal for women to apply for these jobs, however, society in general will not respect women who do. A few challenge this consensus like Fatima who chose to be a warden. |
