Rian Johnson is one of the best directors of this decade and we have complete faith that any and every work of his will be a complete success and blow all our minds. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Johnson’s work, he is best known for directing Knives Out in 2019. Knives Out was a mystery that kept everyone’s interest piqued from start to finish. It was also a huge success, which leads us to its sequel, Glass Onion: a Knives Out Mystery.
A sequel was rumored right after the release of the original Knives Out, it was only a matter of when. Now that we have a date, a teaser, an exclusive clip, and more information, we can’t wait to dive into it and tell you more about this movie. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has high expectations to live up to, but given the start-studded studded cast and brilliant director, we have no doubt that it will truly succeed. Until then, here’s everything you need to about Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, from the cast to the plot, to its release date and much more:

The title doesn’t give away too much, other than the fact that it’s going to be a mystery. However, we believe that glass onion might just be a clever clue for the audience, making this a very indulgent movie already. So far, we know that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery revolves around a group of people who have been invited to a private island, to solve a mystery. While that might seem weird to begin with, it only gets weirder from there. The invitations that all these people received were a puzzle, and once they solve the puzzle, they have access to the written invitation, which hints at a murder mystery.
Imagine inviting all your close friends to solve your own murder. We believe that’s what Glass Onion will be about. Of course, on the island, there will also be an incredible detective, Benoit Blanc. This will be the only character that appeared in the original Knives Out movie. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will truly be one of a kind, and if it’s anything like the 2019 movie, you won’t know who the murderer is until the very end, if there even is one, in fact. It’s only a matter of time before we find out what exactly is happening in this movie, but the suspense is definitely thrilling.
Same director, and same detective, and the title also reads “A Knives Out Mystery.” However, the 2019 Knives Out and Glass Onion won’t be connected to each other. The original Knives Out ended with Ransom Drysdale heading to prison, and although we would have loved to see the aftermath of that (along with a little more Chris Evans), Glass Onion is taking a different route. It’s like the same author, a different book, a new story. Knives Out revolved around a family and the people who worked for that family. Glass Onion is more about people from different walks of life who are somehow connected to one murder.
Glass Onion also seems a little more complex with its puzzles and whatnot, but fans are worried if this movie will be as good as the original Knives Out. Only time will tell. So, although this movie is labeled as a sequel, it won’t have much to do with the first film, other than the progression of detective Benoit Blanc and his career.
The first Knives Out movie had some big names. From Toni Collette to Jamie Lee Curtis, to Chris Evans, to Ana De Armas, to Michael Shannon, and of course, Daniel Craig. So when the sequel for Knives Out was rumored, fans were convinced that the cast couldn’t possibly be as good as the first movie, but we believe they might have been wrong. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery boasts an incredible, star-studded cast and it’s going to an experience seeing all these actors and actresses work together on screen.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will have several cast members like Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson, Ethan Hawke, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick, and of course, Daniel Craig. Craig will be reprising his role as Detective Benoit Blanc and will be an important part of this murder mystery. We saw him display his southern accent in the first film, and we hope he’s had enough time to re-learn it for Class Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
This holiday, you can spend some time away on a private island solving a murder mystery. How amazing does that sound? It isn’t long before Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery premiere on your screens. The movie will release on the 23rd of December, two days before Christmas. Just like the first movie, this one will also be available to stream on Netflix. So, if you’re looking for Christmas present ideas, we suggest a Netflix subscription for your loved ones, just so they don’t miss out on this movie.
So far, we have a teaser trailer and an exclusive clip for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The exclusive clip shows us the very interesting and mysterious invitation that all the guests have received.
Before the mystery begins on the island, we have a pre-mystery of sorts, and it looks like a lot of fun! It also gives us a glimpse into the characters and their personalities which we will encounter in the movie. It is visible that each character is well thought out and has a unique background. We can’t wait to learn more about them!
If you like a good mystery, then Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is definitely for you. We’re so used to romance during the holidays, it’ll be fun to mix it up a little this time around. Until the movie releases, do watch the 2019 Knives Out to see Rian Johnson’s directing style and learn a little bit about the detective that you will see in the upcoming movie!
