In/Spectre Season 1 Plot

Kuro Sakuragawa, an extraordinary high school student, struggles to move on from his ex. He visits a hospital from time to time, where he crosses paths with Kotoko Iwanaga. Upon learning that Kuro is single, Kotoko instantly confesses her love for him and reveals that she had a crush on him for two years. She discloses that she is a “Goddess of Wisdom” who serves as an intermediary between the natural and supernatural worlds.

Kuro, doubting her abilities, decides to cross-check her, and their identities are revealed in the library while fighting a yokai. Kuro admits he is a monster who has eaten the flesh of two different yokai, making him immortal with near-absolute precognition power. Kuro gives in to Kotoko’s request to join her to maintain peace between the supernatural and the real world.

In/Spectre Season 1 Recap

In Season 1, we learned about Kuro’s family and their dark secret of experimenting with yokai meat for generations. Kuro’s grandmother fed Kuro and his siblings the meat of yokai, and no sooner did he realise that it was yokai’s meat; than his siblings were already dead. He later discovers that his cousin Rikka also survived treacherous and nasty experiments and was initially assumed to be dead.

The mystery behind why Kuro was the only one who survived is yet to be revealed. Even if we know Kotoko’s backstory, there are still many things to be answered, which we are expecting In/Spectre Season 2 to cover.
