Every now and then, a fresh face comes along in Hollywood, and we can’t seem to get enough of them. Lately, everyone has been talking about Jenna Ortega, the star of Tim Burton’s Wednesday on Netflix. Appearing in everything from romantic comedies to slasher films, Jenna’s name is one we’ll be looking out for since she shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
It hasn’t taken long for Jenna Ortega to become a household name, and with her upcoming movie Scream VI, she’s only about to climb her way to the top. Keep reading to learn more about the talented actress, from her net worth, to her biography, to her dating history and much more:
As of 2022, Jenna Ortega has an estimated net worth of $3 million. We’re not sure how much she’s been paid for each project, but we believe she was paid over $30,000 per episode of Wednesday, since that is what the cast members of Stranger Things were paid, and they had less experience than Ortega at the time of filming. By Season 3, they were earning $250,000 per episode or $2 million per season, so we think it’s safe to say that Ortega’s net worth is about to rise in the coming year, and we wouldn’t be surprised if she surpasses several other established women in Hollywood!
Jenna Marie Ortega was born in Coachella Valley, California, on September 27, 2002. She first became interested in acting at the age of sex when she watched child star, Dakota Fanning, in the film Man on Fire. She began auditioning at age eight and made her television debut at the age of 10 in 2012. In 2013, she made her film debut in the minor role of the vice president’s daughter in Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3. Next, she took on the support role of Annie in the film Insidious: Chapter 2, marking the beginning of her work in horror films.
Ortega continued appearing in smaller roles on television, including the recurring role of young Jane on Jane the Virgin from 2014-2019. She starred in the Disney Channel sitcom Stuck in the Middle from 2016 to 2019 and also provided the voice of Princess Isabel for the children’s series Elena of Avalor.
Ortega continued working in her preferred genres of thriller and horror, taking on the roles of meddling little sister Ellie Alves in the second season of Netflix’s You and Phoebe Atwell in Netflix’s horror film The Babysitter: Killer Queen. In 2020, she voiced the character Brooklyn in Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, and she remained with the show for all five seasons, ending in May 2022. She released her first book, It’s All Love: Reflections for the Heart and Soul, in January 2021.
Ortega was next seen in the Netflix comedy film Yes Day and HBO Max’s drama film The Fallout, in which she starred as Vada and was praised for her performance. In 2022, she starred in the newest installation of the Scream franchise as Tara Carpenter. She will reprise the role in Scream VI in 2023. Also in 2022, Ortega starred in Studio 666, a horror film written by and starring the Foo Fighters, and X, in which she portrays an up-and-coming porn star who suddenly has to fight for her life.
Most recently, Ortega proudly and successfully took on the role of Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday, all about the daughter of the Addams Family. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy for the role. She is slated to star in the Paramount+ thriller film Finestkind and Lionsgate and Point Grey’s Miller’s Girl.
Ortega is very outspoken about her beliefs and the causes she supports. Since she was 13 years old, she has been a supporter of Pride over Prejudice, a campaign promoting acceptance of the LGBT community. With immediate family members who are immigrants, it’s no longer that she is pro-immigration. In 2016, she told Teen Vogue: “It’s important to embrace your culture today because there are so many different ethnicities in America. At the end of the day, you are you. You’ve got to stay true to yourself, and you can’t change yourself in order to fit in or to make someone else feel comfortable.”
In 2018, former First Lady Melania Trump wore a jacket that read, “I Really Don’t Care. Do U?” when visiting immigrant children who were being housed alone, without their parents. In response, Ortega wore a jacket that read, “I Do Care and U Should Too,” to the Radio Disney Music Awards. When asked about the statement, Ortega told Forbes: “I remember I was going through the news on my phone and I saw what Melania wore on the way to visit the immigrant children. I was so deeply offended and right there at that moment I knew what I wanted my statement to be…”

For anyone who is willing & wanting to contribute any way they can, I want to form a thread with information. Does anyone have resources/links they could add?— Jenna Ortega (@jennaortega) March 6, 2022
Most recently, Ortega has spoken out about the ongoing fighting in Palestine and Israel. Her pinned tweet features a thread of resources for those in Palestine and other war-torn countries like Ukraine, Syria, and Yemen.
For the last few years, Jenna has been rumored to have dated guys like Asher Angel and Jacob Sartorius, however, when asked about it in interviews, she often put these rumors to rest and said, “According to the internet, I dated like six guys, but I dated none of them.” Currently, Jenna is rumored to be single, although her fans are quick to romantically link her with her co-stars on Wednesday.
Jenna Ortega is the fourth of six children born to her parents. Her mother’s name is Natalie, and her father’s name is Edward. Edward is a businessman, and Natalie is an emergency room nurse. She has an older brother and sister, Isaak and Mariah, and a younger brother and sister, twins Markus and Aliyah. Mariah is married with three children, two sons, and a daughter.
