In recent years, Knives Out has been one of the best mystery movies that everyone has seen and it’s not just because of the ensemble cast of the crazy plot twists, but because of how carefully Rian Johnson has crafted the first two movies, that the viewers can’t help but want more. Has Knives Out 3 Been Confirmed?
Knives Out 3 has been confirmed although is news is still incredibly fresh and production or writing hasn’t begun yet. In an interview with Deadline, when asked about a potential Knives Out 3, Rian Johnson said, “honestly, over the past couple of months, the most exciting creative thing to me right now is that third movie. And so, I think I’m going to hop right into it. Not because of a contractual obligation, but, genuinely, that’s the shiny object I find my nose pointed toward right now.” This statement by Johnson has got everyone excited about a third installment to a very successful franchise that should ideally be continued for as long as possible. So although Knives Out 3 hasn’t been officially confirmed by Netflix, at least we know that Rian Johnson has his mind set on it, and hopefully, we will get to watch it in the coming years, which brings us to the next part of this article.
When and Where Can You Watch Knives Out 3?
Other sources have reported that Rian Johnson will begin writing the script for Knives Out 3 after new year’s and it’s time we do the math and figure out when we might be able to watch Knives Out 3. The first Knives Out movie was released in 2019, and the second, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has been released in select theatres in 2022, and will be on Netflix next month. So there is been a significant three-year gap between the two movies. This means, that Knives Out 3 is most likely to release sometime in 2025. Although we don’t have any official news about a release date, we’re hoping our math is right this time around. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has gotten a very limited theatre release and will globally be streamed on Netflix, and we can expect something similar for Knives Out 3 as well. Netflix has signed a contract with Ram Bergman and Rian Johnson for two sequels to the original Knives Out which was released in 2019, which means, Knives Out 3 will also release on Netflix.
Will Knives Out 3 Be Connected to Knives Out or Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery?
Considering the fact that the first two installments weren’t connected to each other, other than Detective Benoit Blanc, the southern charmer. As per our speculation, Knives Out 3 will have a new murder, a new mystery, and new characters, but we do hope to see Daniel Craig return to our screen as Detective Benoit Blanc because he surely does know how to solve a mystery. Craig is well aware of how creative Rian Johnson is when it comes to new ideas, and knows that he has a few more ideas. Only time will tell if Daniel Craig reprises his role for Knives Out 3, but we’re guessing that he might just! Knives Out 3 will be different from the two movies, however, it will still be a murder mystery as Johnson wants to continue that streak. Johnson’s mind works in mysterious ways and Glass Onion was more intricate than the 2019 Knives Out, so our best guess is that Knives Out 3 will up the ante, who knows, maybe there will be two or more murders?
Would Knives Out 3 Be the Last of the Franchise?
Based on interviews with Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig too, we don’t believe that Knives Out 3 will be the last movie of the franchise. As of now, Netflix only has a deal with Johnson and Bergman for one more movie, Knives Out 3, but who’s to say that the contract cannot be renewed for future deals? Whether or not Netflix will be involved in future productions is still unknown, but we have a feeling that Knives Out 3 won’t be the last of the franchise.
Conclusion
In the upcoming months, we are expecting to learn more about Knives Out 3 and how far Rian Johnson has come with writing the script. We will make sure we keep you posted with any future updates. Until then, for those of you who have seen Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which one did you like better?
