M. Night Shyamalan is an Indian-American filmmaker who is best known for his work The Sixth Sense (1999), Split (2016), and Unbreakable (2000). Undoubtedly, he is one of the most well-known directors all across the globe, and now, we’re going to experience another one of his masterpieces, Knock at the Cabin. The title itself sounds scary, especially since we’ve seen movies like Cabin in the Woods and nothing really good happens when a cabin is involved, and the same goes for Knock at the Cabin as well.
Knock at the Cabin belongs to some very different genres, all of which combined can make for a potential Oscar-nominated movie. Knock at the Cabin is an apocalyptic psychological horror movie which is based on the novel, “The Cabin at the End of the World.” There are several interesting things about this movie and we’re here to tell you more about it ahead of its release. So, buckle in, put your thinking caps on, and learn more about Knock at the Cabin:
Save your family or save humanity. Make the choice. The trailer for #KnockAtTheCabin has arrived.

Imagine going away to a cabin with your family hoping to have a nice and relaxing time, when someone tells you that the fate of the world rests in your hands. It wouldn’t be ideal, would it? That’s how the plot of Knock at the Cabin proceeds. The movie follows a couple and their adopted daughter as they settle into a lovely cabin, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, the peaceful times don’t last very long when their daughter is approached by a stranger who introduces himself as Leonard.
Leonard and three other people make their way to the cabin, loaded with weapons as they try to break in, and succeed. The couple and their daughter are now held hostage and Leonard explains that the fate of the world rests in their hands and the choices they make, moving forward. Should they fail to make this choice, the impending doom will be upon the world, the apocalypse. These four people could be imagined as the biblical horseman of the apocalypse too, and it will be interesting to watch these events unfold. Will they be able to make a choice? Or will the inevitable happen?
The cast for Knock at the Cabin is fairly small and limited. We have a family which consists of Eric, Andrew, and Wen. Along with them, there are the four people who will pose a potential threat, breaking into the cabin. Ben Aldridge will be playing the role of Eric, who is known for his work in the popular series, Fleabag. Aldridge also has an upcoming movie titled, Spoiler Alert, which will release in November. Jonathan Groff will be playing the role of Andrew, who is well-known for his musical talent in movies and tv shows. Their daughter, Wen, will be played by Kristen Cui, and we can’t wait to see her talent on our screens!
The role of Leonard, who seems like the big baddie, will be played by Dave Bautista, who is perfect for this role. You might recognize Bautista from his role as Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The other three accompanying him will be Rupert Grint, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Abby Quinn. It will be interesting to see the four of these characters against the family of three, especially with a mix of these versatile cast members.
Knock at the Cabin was filmed between April to June 2022, which was one of the quickest filming and production processes. The movie was originally supposed to release on the 17th of February, 2023, but now has been pushed up by two weeks and will release on the 3rd of February instead. Although this might seem like a while away, it’s only a couple of months and we’re certain that it will be worth the wait. The movie will be available to watch in the theatres and as of now, it isn’t competing with any other movie, however, the original date would have put it against Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. So it was probably a good decision to release Knock at the Cabin a little sooner.
Yes, and it will surely send chills down your spine. First, you see a happy family with the cutest kid enjoying a peaceful getaway. The sun is shining bright and all is right. However, that is soon taken away from them as four people with weapons show up on their doorstep, forcing them to make a decision. The trailer especially highlights Dave Bautista and his incredible acting, but credit must also be given to the rest of the cast! It will be interesting to see how the movie shapes up and what happens in the end.
Apocalypse movies are one of a kind and so is M Night Shyamalan. These two combined together are going to make a brilliant movie. Do let us know in the comments if you have any theories about this movie!
