Loki Season 2: Plot, Cast, Release Date and More

Loki Season 2: Plot, Cast, Release Date and More

One of the most popular and successful series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was Loki, which premiered in the first half of phase 4. The series finale ended on a major cliffhanger, and since then, fans have been sitting on the edge of their seats, looking for answers, and praying for Loki Season 2.

Well, looks like those prayers have been answered! Unlike WandaVision, Loki was never announced as a limited series, which meant there was always scope for another season, and given how season one ended, we knew something bigger and better was coming our way. Marvel Studios is all set for Phase 5 and so are we!

Loki has been a fan favorite for the longest time, whether it is in the movies or the comics, fans have loved the God of Mischief and his relationship with his brother, Thor, the God of Thunder. Loki has been bad, Loki has been evil, Loki has been murdered, and well…Loki has been murdered too.

The Loki series takes place in a different timeline altogether and while that might be a little confusing, we’re hoping Loki Season 2 sheds more light on what’s in store for our favorite anti-hero. Here’s everything you need to know about Loki Season 2:

What Will Loki Season 2 Be About?

We know Marvel likes to keep secrets and they do a great job at it, but they have done an even better job with Loki Season 2. The first season of Loki ended with Loki and Sylvie (a Loki variant, whom Loki fell in love with, yes we do understand how complicated that sounds) in a different timeline where they come to face with he who remains, aka, Kang. Kang is set to be the big bad villain of Phase 5 of the MCU, so he most definitely will be playing a part in Loki Season 2, however, not at the capacity, one would hope.

Sylvie shattered Loki’s hope as she was determined of getting rid of Kang, in turn, setting the multiverse free, which was the entire premise of phase 5 as we saw in movies like Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Loki season 1 ended with Loki back at the TVA, but Mobius has no recollection of who Loki is. This could mean Loki has ended up in an alternate timeline or dimension or universe, and we’ll just have to wait to find out.

The Plot Of Loki Season 2

Showrunner Kate Herron is taking a step back from Loki Season 2 because she never planned a second season, to begin with, so it will be interesting to see a new vision for Loki Season 2 altogether. There is plenty that needs to be unpacked in Loki Season 2, for example, how will Loki make his way out of this timeline and return to the one he came from? Or will Sylvie return after her failed attempt at killing Kang? And what will happen to the fan-favorite Mobius? There are a lot of questions on our minds, and we are ready for the answers! While we don’t know how Loki Season 2 will progress, what we do know is that it will play a big role in the multiverse saga.

The Cast of Loki Season 2

There’s only one man who can play the role of Loki, and we mean the Loki we know and love, not the several variants, and it is none other than Tom Hiddleston. Hiddleston has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the Thor movies, and then he made his way to the Avengers movie and even died in Avengers: Infinity War. If there’s anyone who deserved a solo show, it was Loki, and the only person who could pull this character off over and over again, is Tom Hiddleston, and we’re happy to see him reprising this role in Loki Season 2.

Although Sophia Di Martino wasn’t initially sure about the role Sylvie might play in the upcoming season, sources have confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Sylvie Laufeydottir. Fans had very mixed feelings and reactions about the romance between Loki and Sylvie because it felt like self-love was taken to another level, so it will be interesting to see how the creators take that feedback and make possible changes in Loki Season 2.

The Cast of Loki Season 2

The other cast members who are slated to return in Loki Season 2 are Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tara Strong, and Eugene Cordero amongst others. We are unsure of whether or not Jonathan Majors will make an appearance as Kang, but maybe that will depend on the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, although the timelines are still a little blurry in terms of what takes place when, however, Kang is everywhere, isn’t he? While we don’t have too many confirmed characters, we do know that Kate Dickie, Rafael Casal, and Ke Huy Quan are rumored to join the cast of Loki Season 2, and it will be interesting to see the role they play.

When and Where Can You Watch Loki Season 2?

Just like all other Marvel Studios productions, Loki Season 2 will also be available to watch on Disney+ and the episodes will be released weekly. There are most likely going to be six episodes, and make sure you always stick around for any post-credit scenes. Although we don’t have a confirmed release date just yet, Loki Season 2 is set to release sometime in the summer of 2023, so the wait isn’t all that long!

Is There a Trailer for Loki Season 2?

As of now, there is no trailer or teaser for Loki Season 2, but we’re hoping we can see one closer to the release date. Even then, it probably won’t give away too much of the plot, but it will be nice to see Loki again! We will keep you posted with any developments.

Conclusion

Loki has been one of the original characters who has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011. Now, over a decade later, he is still one of the most important and loved characters, and we truly hope his journey doesn’t end here.

Loki might be the God of Mischief, but he has surely made a place for himself in the hearts of several fans all across the world, making Loki Season 2 highly anticipated.
