If you’ve read the Marvel comics, or even watched all the movies or TV series that are based on these comics, you would know that there are over 5000 characters all across the franchise. While it is difficult to involve all these characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ll admit that Marvel Studios is doing a very impressive job in trying to do so. That being said, Phase 5 of Marvel is about to begin in 2023, and one of the shows which will be a part of Phase 5 is Echo.
If you haven’t already heard a lot about Echo yet, we’re here for you! Echo might seem familiar right off the bat unless you have read the comics, however, something that might jog your memory is the Hawkeye series on Disney+ which was released in November 2021. Echo will be a spin-off series of Hawkeye, and if you’re still a little confused, sit tight, because we’re going to tell you everything we know about Echo so far, from the plot to the cast, and much more:

What Is The Plot of Marvel’s Echo?
Echo will revolve around one of the most unique characters of Marvel so far, and it is none other than Maya Lopez, aka Echo. We first saw Maya in the popular TV series, Hawkeye (2021) and fans immediately fell in love with her. There was a constant moral debate about whether or not she was a good person, because of her affiliations with Kingpin and the Tracksuit Mafia. However, we learned a little more about Maya’s dark past, and Echo will pick up after the events of Hawkeye. Marvel is excellent when it comes to keeping things under wraps, especially plots, but hopefully, we can figure out a little bit more about the upcoming series, Echo.
Since Echo will pick up after the events of Hawkeye, we might see Maya Lopez take a journey of her own, one that leads to a righteous path, especially after the secrets that unraveled. It is possible that Echo will be an origin series of sorts and we will learn more about Maya, her family, and her past. Maya will also reconnect with her Native American roots and hometown, as she tries to move on from the events that took place in New York. By the looks of it, Maya wants to start fresh, but her past with the Tracksuit Mafia and especially, Kingpin, might make that a lot harder.
Other than that, we are still unsure of the plans Marvel has for Maya, but we can’t wait to learn more about her. Maya is also canonically deaf in the comics and was portrayed the same in the Hawkeye series as well. Hopefully, we learn more about her powers, attributes, and personality in the upcoming series, Echo.
The Cast of Marvel’s Echo
Echo series will most likely bring back some characters from Hawkeye (2021) and also introduce new characters who will help move the narrative forward. The star of the show will be Echo herself, or as everyone knows her, Maya Lopez. Marvel has been diversifying in the last couple of years, and we couldn’t be more thrilled, which is why after the likes of Sam Wilson, Namor, and Shang-Chi, we will be introduced to a Native American in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maya Lopez will be played by Alaqua Cox, who will be reprising her role from the Hawkeye series. Much like her character, Cox is also deaf and uses sign language to communicate. This is a huge feat for Marvel and a big representation of the deaf and indigenous community.
Alaqua Cox will be the lead character of the series, Echo. However, there will be several other cast members who joining the series, and those include Zahn McClarnon, K. Devery Jacobs, Graham Greene, Tantoo Cardinal, and Chaske Spencer. Their roles are currently unknown, but we should learn more about them soon enough!
As of now, this is purely speculation but it is possible that Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise his role as Kingpin for the upcoming series, and definitely cause some trouble. Fans are also expecting Charlie Cox in the series, considering Daredevil’s association with Echo in Marvel comics. It’s possible that this hasn’t been confirmed just yet because Marvel Studios wants to keep it a surprise, but the fans are almost always one step ahead!
As for the possible post-credit scene at the end of Echo, we can see a range of Marvel characters that might be set up for future movies! Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for any easter eggs!
When and Where Can You Watch Echo?
Echo will be one of the projects of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means we won’t have to wait too long until its release. Although we don’t have an official date just yet, the series is slated to release sometime in 2023. It could be as early as January or February, or we might just have to wait until summer. 2023 is a big year for Marvel studios with projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Secret Invasion on the roster, amongst several others.
Like other Marvel series, Echo will be available to stream on Disney+ and will have a weekly release of each episode. We know Marvel loves its cliffhangers and keeping its fans guessing! There could be 6 to 8 episodes, but we will have a concrete number closer to the release.
Is There a Trailer for Echo?
Since there is no official release date yet, that also means there is no trailer. We’re all waiting to see Alaqua Cox in her new form just as much as you are. Hopefully, Marvel Studio releases a teaser sometime in January 2023, so we have a better idea of what to expect. Nevertheless, we’ll make sure we keep you posted!
Conclusion
Echo will undoubtedly be one of the most intriguing, inclusive, and exciting projects of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we know everyone is excited to see Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and other Avengers return to their screen, we sure hope you can make some room for Echo, because it’ll be worth it!
