Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again – Release Date, Plot, Cast, and More

Since it became available in November 2019, Disney+ has been releasing some amazing original content. Some of our favorites have been sequels to older films that we have always wished for but never got to see. Almost ten years since the last film in the franchise came out, Night at the Museum is returning, and this time, it’s animated and on the small screen, what more could one want? Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again has had more information revealed to its viewers ahead of its release, and we’re here to tell you all about it.

Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again will be directed by Matt Danner, who is an American animator, storyboard artist, director, producer, and much more, so it is safe to say that he has a fair share of experience with animation. Some of his previous projects include Muppet Babies and Club Penguin: Monster Beach Party. Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again will be his most recent movie, and here’s everything you need to know about it, from the plot to the cast, to the release date and more:

What Is the Plot of Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again?

The original live-action Night at the Museum trilogy tells the story of Larry Daley, a newly divorced father who lands a job as a night guard at the American Museum of Natural History. Larry, played by Ben Stiller, wrongfully assumes that the job will be easy and finds out that an ancient spell has allowed the exhibits of the museum to come to life at night. In the second film, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Dexter the monkey steals the tablet of Egyptian Pharoah Akhmenrah when several exhibits are transferred to the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Akhmenrah’s evil older brother, Kahmunrah, is resurrected, and it’s up to Larry to break into the museum and get the tablet back from him.

Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again is the first 2D animated film produced by Walt Disney Pictures since the 2011 film Winnie the Pooh. According to the trailer, it’s the summer, and Larry is going away, so he needs someone to stand in for him on the night shift at the museum. The exhibits purposefully scare off the new recruits because they want Larry’s son, Nick, to take over for him while he’s gone. Nick is reluctant to take on the role, and while working, he forgets the crucial rule: not to leave the basement door unlocked. It appears that this is how Kahmunrah makes his escape, now even more determined to take over the world. It is up to Nick and the exhibits to stop Kamunrah before he can succeed. Nick will be assisted by a number of familiar characters, including Teddy Roosevelt, Sacagawea, Jebediah, and Octavius.

The Cast of Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again

In his first voiceover role, Joshua Bassett stars as Nick Daley. Bassett currently stars as Ricky Bowen in the Disney+ original series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. He has appeared on several television shows, including Celebrity Family Feud, Grey’s Anatomy, and Dirty John. It will be interesting to see how Joshua Bassett performs off-screen, however, we do not doubt that we will ace this role, and bring Nick Daley to life. Recently, Disney and Pixar have been giving more and more opportunities to actors turned voice-actors and it has been refreshing to see, one such example is Pixar’s upcoming movie Elemental.
