What Is The Plot of Oppenheimer?
Let’s circle back to why the title Oppenheimer might have sounded familiar to you when you first read it. This is because Oppenheimer will be a biopic based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the events of the movie will be inspired and adapted from the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Martin Sherwin and Kai Bird.
Oppenheimer has been an important figure in the history of not only America but the entire world. J. Robert Oppenheimer wasn’t just any ordinary scientist, he was the one responsible for the infamous Manhattan Project, which took place during the second world war, that inadvertently led to the creation of the atomic bomb, one of the deadliest weapons known to mankind even today.
The book that the movie will be based on, follows Oppenheimer’s life from when he first began studying quantum physics and how he believed that atomic materials needed control and regulation. We are unsure of just how much of Oppenheimer’s life story will be covered in the movie, however, what we do know is that the focus will remain on the creation of the atomic bomb.
Oppenheimer’s life is truly one of a kind, from being the chairman of the United States Atomic Energy Commission to being branded a communist, to being a groundbreaking theoretical physicist, and being nominated for three Nobel Prizes, Oppenheimer has truly seen it all.
The movie Oppenheimer, directed by Nolan, will be a biopic, but as mentioned before, there will be much more to it. There are several aspects of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s life that deserve to be told and it will be interesting to see just how much ground Nolan can cover in this movie.
The Cast of Oppenheimer
Any Nolan movie is incomplete without an ensemble cast, and Oppenheimer truly takes the cake when it comes to having a stellar and talented cast. On the front and center, playing the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer is none other than Cillian Murphy.
Those of you familiar with Nolan movies, know that this wouldn’t be Murphy’s first Nolan rodeo since he has previously appeared in movies in Dunkirk and Inception. Murphy is most popularly known for his role in the popular series Peaky Blinders.
Joining him will be Emily Blunt as Katherine Oppenheimer. This wouldn’t be the first time Muphy and Blunt are working together as they most recently appeared in A Quiet Place II together. Katherine has played an important part in J. Robert Oppenheimer’s life, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out in the movie.
Joining Murphy and Blunt are several other cast members which include Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Dylan Arnold, Jack Quaid, David Krumholtz, Kenneth Branagh, and Gary Oldman amongst several others.

When and Where Can You Watch Oppenheimer?
Oppenheimer is set for some strong competition this year, although we are certain Nolan is feeling relaxed about his odds against any competition. Oppenheimer is officially set to release on the 21st of July, 2023. The movie will be exclusively available to watch in theatres, which means that it be released on the same day as Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig.
Both movies are going to be very different from each other in terms of story and tone, but the commonality between the two is that they both are highly anticipated and have an ensemble cast. It will be interesting to see how the two movies compare at the box office, and which movie the viewers watch first!

Universal Pictures has only just released the official trailer of Oppenheimer and it will surely send shivers down your spine. The trailer is only a slice of everything that you witness when the movie releases and the focus remains on Cillian Murphy in the trailer, and viewers can’t stop raving about how excited they are for Oppenheimer, and especially Murphy, and his characterization of J. Robert Oppenheimer.
The trailer has been out for very little time and already has over ten million views, but that’s what happens when Christopher Nolan directs a movie. The trailer also showcases some of the other cast members, and just how big Oppenheimer is going to be.
