Short Summary: This story looks at the debate about death penalty in Lebanon. The country has an unofficial moratorium on capital punishment and has not carried out an execution since 2004, but the courts continue to hand down death sentences and there have been recent suggestions that executions may be renewed. The EU and many international organisations are encouraging Lebanon to abolish death penalty altogether.
This story was produced with OPEN Media Hub support as a result of the advanced online reporting workshop in Lebanon in November, 2017.
