Everyone loves a good comedy series, and if the comedy is heartwarming and uplifting, why wouldn’t we recommend it to others? Ted Lasso is returning for a third season, and our AFC Richmond-supporting hearts are anxiously awaiting the comeback of our favorite mustached Premier League football coach.
The first two seasons of Ted Lasso were a raging success so it was no shocker that this show got renewed for another season. There’s still a lot of room for characters to grow and so much of their storylines still need to be explored, which leads us to Ted Lasso Season 3. Here’s everything we know about Ted Lasso Season 3 so far, from the cast, to plot, and much more:
Season 3 of #TedLasso will likely premiere on #AppleTV+ later than the July/August timeframe of previous seasons, per #BrendanHunt.

What Is the Plot of Ted Lasso Season 3?
The critically-acclaimed series follows the story of Ted Lasso, an American football coach turned internet sensation who is hired to coach an English football club. For those of you who don’t know, American football and English football are very much not the same sport. He is hired by AFC Richmond owner, Rebecca Welton, in an attempt to sabotage the time and spite her ex-husband, Rupert Mannion, the former long-time owner of the team.
Season 2 ended on quite a cliffhanger, revealing that Nate “The Great” Shelley has left his position as assistant coach of AFC Richmond to coach Rupert’s newly-purchased team, West Ham United, and we’re hoping that Ted Lasso Season 3 picks up from there. But as so many of the characters have their own importance to the story and their own arcs, it is hard to say what the overall plot might look like. We are also sure to see some more development in the budding romance between Rebecca and AFC Richmond player, Sam Obisanya.
The Cast of Ted Lasso, Season 3
American comedian Jason Sudeikis is the heart and soul behind our beloved Ted Lasso. Known for his time on Saturday Night Live from 2005-2013, he not only developed the series but also writes and stars in it. For the role, Sudeikis has won a number of awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Ted Lasso appears to be the main project on his plate, so we hope to update you as soon as we hear anything new regarding the upcoming season and his decision to reprise his role for Ted Lasso Season 3.
Hannah Waddingham co-stars as AFC Richmond owner, Rebecca Welton. Waddingham is a British actress and singer, and she has been seen in quite a large number of UK-base productions. In 2015, she joined the cast of Game of Thrones, Season 5, as Septa Unella, the iconic nun who rang the “shame bell” as Cersei Lannister took her famous walk through King’s Landing. She is a graduate of the Academy of Live and Record Arts and has a four-octave vocal range! Most recently, she was seen as Mother Witch in Hocus Pocus 2 on Disney+.
English actor Nick Mohammed will most definitely return as Nate Shelley for Ted Lasso Season 3. Nick is also a comedian and writer, and he was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 73rd and 74th Primetime Emmy Awards for his role in Ted Lasso. Other cast members certain to return are Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya, Anthony Head as Rupert Mannion, and James Lance as Trent Crimm.
When and Where Can You Watch Ted Lasso, Season 3?
As of right now, there is no confirmed release date for Ted Lasso’s new season. Season 3 began filming on March 7, 2022, but updates have been few and far between. Rumor has it since Jason Sudeikis officially became showrunner, he is constantly reworking the script to make it perfect. At the 2022 Emmy Awards, Sudeikis said, “We’ll see you for Season 3, at some point,” during his acceptance speech. We’re not getting our hopes up that Ted Lasso Season 3 will be ready for us to view any time soon. As always, when it does premiere, Ted Lasso Season 3 latest season will be available to stream on Apple TV+. The third season will most likely be comprised of twelve new episodes. Based on past production patterns, we’re really hoping for a release date in late spring 2023. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed!
Trailer
Filming for Ted Lasso Season 3 has only just began, but so far, just like the release date, we have no news about a trailer or when to expect one, but hopefully we learn more about it in the upcoming months, closer to the release date. In the meantime, we can check out interviews with the cast! Brett Goldstein briefly spoke with Entertainment Tonight, hinting that Season 3 will not necessarily be the end of Ted Lasso, as it has been speculated by others.
Juno Temple also appeared on Good Morning America to discuss her Emmy nomination for the series and what she believes can be expected in the next season!
Conclusion
Although not much has been shared about the process of Ted Lasso Season 3, we believe we’re in for some exciting developments once the series returns. There have been rumors that Ted Lasso Season 3 will be the last, and we sincerely hope that is not the case! As we learn more about Ted Lasso’s upcoming season, we will do our best to ensure that we keep our coverage up to do. Do you have a favorite Ted Lasso quote?
