It doesn’t matter which generation you belong to, there’s one game that we have all played at some point in our life, and that is Tetris. Yes, we are talking about that block game that has had all of us hooked many times, and turns out, there is some interesting history associated with this game, and Apple TV has decided to make a movie out of it. If this doesn’t sound appealing enough right away, don’t worry, because there’s plenty in store for you.

The next time you decide to go ahead and play Tetris, you will be thinking more about its invention and how it took an entire country by storm, as compared to the building blocks that you are meant to be focusing on.

The gaming industry is undoubtedly one of the most profitable industries in the world today, but it has been around for a very long time. Apple TV has lined up some very interesting movies and series for 2023, and Tetris is going to be an important part of that roster.

So, keep reading this article to find out everything you need to know about the upcoming movie Tetris, from the plot to the cast to the release date and more:

What Is The Plot Of Tetris Apple TV?

It will be a biographical drama since it will tell the story of the popular game Tetris and the history of the game and its rights, but not in the way that one would expect. If this sounds boring to you right now, let’s take a look at the official synopsis of Tetris before we dive into any plot details about the movie:

“Tetris is based on the story true of American video game salesman Henk Rogers and his discovery of Tetris in 1988. When he sets out to bring the game to the world, he enters a dangerous web of lies and corruption behind the Iron Curtain.”

The Plot of Tetris Apple TV

We have often heard of different battles between companies over the rights of a certain character, game, script, or any intellectual property for that matter. Just like that, this upcoming biographical drama will tell us the story of the movie and the war between the publishing rights of this game.

This entire incident takes place in the late 1980s which means it was during the height of the cold war. During this time, Henk Rogers teamed up with the inventor of Tetris to distribute the game all over the United States.

The upcoming movie has been described a little like the movie The Social Network, which means this dramatization of events will surely be described in the best manner possible, or at least so we hope.

You might still be a little conflicted and not convinced enough to watch this movie, but even though this is a biopic, the cast and trailer are bound to make it a raging success amongst the fans. Make sure you stick around till the very end of this article to learn more about the cast of Tetris.

The Cast of Tetris Apple TV

Apple TV has cast some brilliant actors and actresses in the upcoming movie Tetris, and in the lead role of Henk Rogers, we have Taron Egerton, who has definitely caught everyone’s attention.

If Egerton doesn’t seem familiar to you, we recommend watching some of his best work which includes Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Robin Hood, Black Bird, and Rocketman amongst several others. We do not doubt that Egerton is going to have the limelight on him for the entire movie.

The Cast of Tetris Apple TV

Joining Taron Egerton in the cast of the movie there are several other talented actors and actresses including Toby Jones, Nikita Yefremov, Roger Allam, Anthony Boyle, Togo Igawa, Ken Yamamura, and Ben Miles amongst others.

It will be interesting to see how their characters impact the rights and distribution of the popular game Tetris.

When and Where Can You Watch Tetris?

It was first announced in July 2020 that Jon S. Baird would be directing a movie that would delve into the legal battles surrounding the game Tetris. In November of the same year, Apple TV came into the picture and acquired the rights to the movie. Luckily, there was no battle between streaming services to try and release Tetris on their platform, although that would have been interesting.

Filming of Tetris has taken place in locations like Aberdeen and Glasgow, so it definitely is a great movie production-wise too. It won’t be long until you can stream Tetris because the movie is slated to release on the 31st of March next month. So, if you don’t have your Apple TV subscription just yet, now is the best time to go ahead and do so.

Is There a Trailer for Tetris?

The official trailer for Tetris is by far the most exciting thing about it, even more exciting than Taron Egerton as the lead of the movie, and that’s saying something. If the cast hasn’t convinced you to go ahead and watch Tetris next month, then the trailer most definitely will get the job done.

The trailer gives us a glimpse into the dramatization of the events that took place back in the 80s, and just how big the battle of rights for Tetris was. While the plot and characters seem great, the one thing that we loved about the trailer was how it was edited.

The editing paid homage to the popular game while also telling the story of how the game was acquired. In one week, the official trailer of Tetris has received over five million views, so we are more than sure that this movie is going to be one of Apple TV’s more successful projects in 2023.

If you’re a fan of the game, Tetris, or if you like biographical dramas, then we highly recommend sorting your Apple TV subscription so you can watch Tetris when it releases in March.

Do let us know in the comments if you are as excited about this movie as we are!
