The horror genre has been around for several decades and has been successful in increasing everyone’s heart rate too. However, in the last decade, viewers have often complained that horror movies have lost their charm as they now simply rely on jump scares and other scare tactics, while it works for some, others have been disappointed. Amidst all the lower-rated horror movies that are struggling to make their way to the top, The Conjuring movie series was a little silver lining, and a terrifying one too.
Since 2013, The Conjuring movie series has managed to scare audiences with the help of some horror cliches and jump scares, paired with an incredible storyline that is bound to give you chills down your spine. It is no wonder that this movie series has lasted for three movies already, and The Conjuring 4 is in the works! We’re here to tell you everything about the fourth installment of The Conjuring series, from the predicted plot to the cast and much more:

The entire movie series revolves around well-renowned occult and paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who normally help families in their homes struggling with possible paranormal activity. So far, the three Conjuring movies have focussed on different cases, which means that The Conjuring 4 will most likely be a fresh and newly terrifying case for Ed and Lorraine. The Conjuring movie series has also introduced myths of its own, which also led to another popular movie series, Annabelle, and yes, we are talking about that creepy doll who has expanded into a universe of her own. As for Ed and Lorraine, the couple has worked on several cases in their time, so it is entirely possible that one of their past cases comes back to haunt them in The Conjuring 4.
However, the viewers are hoping for something a little different with The Conjuring 4. Maybe this time around, instead of looking into a family and their hauntings, Ed and Lorrain could switch up their location and venture into a different territory altogether, because let’s face it, if ghosts do exist, they can exist absolutely anywhere, the possibilities are endless. The most recent Conjuring movie in 2021, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It was popular amongst fans but wasn’t as critically acclaimed as the first two movies, so maybe it’s time for them to do things differently with The Conjuring 4.
Two people have been important pillars of The Conjuring franchise, and without them, The Conjuring 4 wouldn’t make sense and would simply be incomplete. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson have stuck around since the first movie, and everyone is hoping that they return for The Conjuring 4, however, an official cast hasn’t been confirmed yet. But can The Conjuring franchise survive without Ed and Lorraine Warren, and more importantly, can they afford to recast? We don’t believe so! Although Vera Farmiga is best known for her role as Lorraine in The Conjuring movie series, this isn’t her only appearance in horror movies or show. Farmiga was front and center in the popular tv series, Bates Motel, and has also made an appearance in other popular movies. She’s most definitely a horror veteran!
As for Patrick Wilson, he is also most popularly known as Ed Warren to horror fans, but believe it or not, he began his career in Broadway musicals. Much like Farmiga, Wilson has also appeared in other horror movies and has also been a part of the DC franchise. Despite playing several roles in Hollywood, fans truly love him as Ed Warren, and simply can’t see anyone else play this role but Wilson. So, we truly do hope that Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return for The Conjuring 4.
Other than these two cast members, the others are most likely to change from movie to movie. New cases, new family members, which means new cast members. Sterling Jerins is expected to return for The Conjuring 4 as Judy Warren, and Steve Coulter as Father Gordon. Both of these cast members who have appeared in previous movies are most likely to reprise their roles for the upcoming movie, The Conjuring 4.
The Conjuring 4 was confirmed recently and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is set to write the screenplay for the upcoming movie, which is good news because he was also the writer for The Conjuring 2 and 3! After the not-so-great box office numbers for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, fans were worried about the franchise coming to an unfortunate end but that hasn’t been the case. Luckily, the future looks bright for this terrifying franchise, but as of now, we can’t tell you a confirmed release date for The Conjuring 4 because it is too soon, but we can hope for a theatrical release and then it eventually releasing on Netflix!
We can’t leave you without doing a little bit of math though, and trying and guess a possible release date or at least a year. The first Conjuring movie was released in 2013, the second in 2016, and the most recent in 2021. So there have been significant gaps in release, and if we follow this, The Conjuring 4 might not release until 2025! However, fans are hopeful that they get to see the upcoming move in 2023 since it has been confirmed already. Nevertheless, we will keep you posted!
As of now, there’s no available teaser or trailer for The Conjuring 4, and there won’t be until we have more details about the release date and other information. But we’re sure there will be several fan-made trailers in the meantime that you can look at and get spooked out!
The Conjuring 4 will be another great installment in the Conjuring franchise and who knows, it might just give birth to more spin-off movie series! Since there haven’t been too many updates just yet, make sure you check our website from time to time for any more information about The Conjuring 4!
