2023 is the year for streaming platforms because while many people are hyper-focused on going to the theatres to watch movies like Oppenheimer or Barbie, some just want to kick back and relax for most of their viewing experience. This trend started during the pandemic but has stuck around even after that, giving rise to several movies and shows on streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and Apple TV.
Today, however, we are here to talk about the upcoming workplace thriller with a dash of dark humor, The Consultant. We will be talking about the upcoming series, but the first thing you need to know is that The Consultant is based on the novel written by Bentley Little.
If you haven’t heard of Bentley Little, we highly recommend reading some of his books like The Handyman, The Haunted, The Mailman, and of course, The Consultant.
Bentley Little has a unique style of storytelling and we are hoping that gets translated on screen because The Consultant is truly a gem, and would make for a perfect and very interesting series.
The Consultant will be created by Tony Basgallop, who is a British television writer, best known for his work Servant, Inside Men, To the Ends of the Earth, and What Remains. Without much ado, let’s tell you everything you need to know about The Consultant, from the plot to the cast to the release date and more:

Since The Consultant is based on a book, it will be interesting to see how closely the plot of the series follows the original source material. However, before we dive into the plot details of The Consultant, let us take a look at the official synopsis to get a better idea of what we can expect from the upcoming series:
“When a new consultant, Regus Patoff, is hired to improve the business at the App-based gaming company CompWare, employees experience new demands and challenges that put everything into question … including their lives.”
Gaming companies are all the hype right now, and things are going smoothly until the CEO of CompWare passes away under mysterious circumstances. Originally, Regus Patoff was simply supposed to be a consultant, but as his power grows, so do the absurdities that come along with him.
From the very beginning, Regus brings a different and dark energy with him, one that everyone else can’t seem to shake off, especially when he starts firing people because he doesn’t like their smell.
The employees are more and more concerned as time passes by, and soon enough they realize that going against Regus doesn’t just mean losing their job, but potentially their life.
He might not be a ghost or demon, but there is definitely something sinister about him, that no one is prepared for. What’s more exciting is the man who plays the role of Regus Patoff, and we will be discussing that next, so make sure you stick around!
The Consultant is an upcoming series, which means there will be several cast members, some permanent, and some who will make an appearance in a few episodes. Albeit, you will agree with us when we say that the spotlight will be on Regus Patoff, who is being played by none other than Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz himself.
Waltz has been around for a long time and his career trajectory is proof of just how brilliant he is, and frankly, we don’t know how well The Consultant will do in terms of viewership, but we are certain people will watch it for Waltz.
If you don’t recognize Waltz, you need to go ahead and watch some of his best work which includes Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, Dead for a Dollar, The Legend of Tarzan, and Spectre amongst several others. We can’t wait to see his portrayal of Regus Patoff!
Other cast members who will be joining Waltz in The Consultant are Nat Wolff, Brittany O’Grady, Aimee Carrero, Sloane Avery, and Michael Charles Vaccaro amongst others. It will be interesting to see how their characters deal with Regus Patoff, and who makes it out alive and well.
The countdown for The Consultant has begun and you’re in luck because the wait isn’t too long anymore. The Consultant will officially be available to stream on the 24th of February and will be exclusively available to watch on Prime Video.
By the looks of it, Prime Video is giving some tough competition to Netflix this year, and we can’t wait to see what else they come up with. The Consultant was teased sometime towards the end of 2021, but the shooting for the upcoming series hadn’t begun until 2022.
Now, in 2023, we will finally be able to witness The Consultant, and without a doubt, viewers are looking forward to this. One of the most exciting developments of The Consultant is its trailer which we will talk about in the next section of this article.
In less than a week, the official trailer for The Consultant has over two million views and we aren’t even shocked about it. The trailer gives us a good idea about what we can expect in terms of the genre, tone, and characters of The Consultant, but still leaves plenty of room for vagueness and suspense when it comes to the plot, and how the narrative of The Consultant will move forward.
If you have read the book, then you probably have a clearer idea of what to expect, but if not, this trailer will be a lovely surprise for you. The official trailer also gives us a glimpse into the characters that we will be witnessing in The Consultant, and the importance each of them will have in the series.
There is a lot going on in the trailer that might even confuse a little, but hopefully, as soon as the series is out, all doubts are cleared. We are expecting the trailer to reach at least five million before the release of The Consultant, so if you haven’t watched it yet, now is the time to go ahead and do that!
There’s still so much about The Consultant that is still a mystery, which is why we would highly recommend watching the series when it releases. There are meant to be a total of eight episodes, so it will serve as the perfect binge as well.
Do let us know in the comments whether or not you will be watching The Consultant when it releases!
