Your favourite show is back with another season! The Crown has been around for a while now and every season has seen more success than the previous one. There’s no wonder that it has lasted this long, and also because there is still plenty to unpack when it comes to the monarchy. The recent death of Queen Elizabeth after her long reign has diverted everyone’s attention to the royal family and everything they do. This means, more people are now watching The Crown than ever before, and hence, now is the perfect time to release another season.
After the events of Season 4, there is plenty to unpack in the upcoming season. After shows like Bridgeton and The Empress, people are looking for more shows with endless royalty and grandeur, and The Crown is the most suitable show for all of that. Even though The Crown is based on true events, there’s a great deal of fiction attached to the series, and we wonder how season 5 will unfold. Here’s everything we know so far about The Crown season 5:

What is The Crown Season 5 About?
Season 5 of The Crown will most definitely tell the fans the story of beloved Princess Diana and Prince Charles. There’s still a lot about them that hasn’t been covered in the show previously, so their story may be one of the focal points this season. Some official stills of The Crown have been released, two of which show Princess Diana and Prince Charles. Princess Diana looks stunning, just as the world likes to remember her. This season will most likely feature Princess Diana’s last appearance, and we will talk more about who will be playing this role later in the article.
We are still unsure about how far ahead into the present the creators want to dive, considering that this might not be the last season of The Crown. However, people like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are less likely to be portrayed in any of the seasons. The Crown tends to focus on the bigger events that happened in the past, and at the expense of sounding like a broken record, we must shine a light on Princess Diana and everything that went wrong. Hopefully, The Crown season 5 does some justice to her story.
The Cast of The Crown Season 5
The Crown is best known for its ensemble cast and one that keeps changing every two seasons, which means, it’s time for another switch-up. The fans had gotten extremely comfortable with the cast in seasons 3 and 4, however, change is necessary. As the characters keep getting older and growing, so should the cast. Although this might a little bit of an adjustment, the new cast is looking sharper and better than ever. First and foremost, taking over the role of Queen Elizabeth II will be Imelda Staunton, who you might recognize from the Harry Potter films as Professor Umbridge. The other cast members are:
- Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret
- Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana
- Dominic West as Prince Charles
- Senan West as Prince William
- Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip
- Jonny Lee Miller as Prime Minister John Major
Of course, there will be more characters who will appear with shorter appearances throughout the season, however, as of now, these are the characters you can begin envisioning as the new royal family on Netflix.
When and Where Can You Watch The Crown Season 5?
Just like a lot of other shows and movies, The Crown and its production also suffered delays because of COVID, which left impatient fans all across the world. However, The Crown is back with a confirmed dated, which is the 9th of November. So we have less than a month to go before being able to stream season 5 of The Crown. All the episodes will be able to watch on Netflix, and if you haven’t caught up on the previous seasons so far, now is the right time to do so!
Is There a Trailer for The Crown Season 5?
We don’t have the access to the final trailer yet, although it is expected to release in the next few days. Until then, there is a teaser trailer you can look at, which gives us a gist of what season 5 of The Crown will be out.

The focus of this trailer is the failed marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, and the events that follow after that. In addition, about a year ago, Imelda Staunton also had a message for the fans from the sets of The Crown.
Hopefully, soon enough we will have a complete trailer which will give us more insight into this season.
Will There Be a Season 6 of The Crown?
For the longest time, there were rumours that season 5 of The Crown would be the last one as it would conclude the important events which had taken place in the lives of the royal family. However, by the looks, if it, Netflix and the creators of The Crown aren’t done with the show just yet. Season 6 of The Crown has officially been confirmed, and we can expect to see the same cast as season 5. Although we don’t have a premiere date for season 6 just yet, given the pattern of release, we can expect to see it sometime in November 2023.
The wait for The Crown season 5 has almost come to an end and we can only hope that it will be worth it. With a fresh cast, some new secrets and scandals, this season will surely be an interesting royal affair. Do let us know your thoughts about this season and any expectations you might have!
