The Eminence in Shadow or what Japanese people call Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! is anime based on a unique Japanese light novel series filled with action and mystery written by Daisuke Aizawa and illustrated by Tōzai.The manga adaptation by Anri Sakano is being issued in Kadokawa Shoten’s seinen manga magazine Comp Ace since December 2018.
A spin-off manga named Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Shadow Gaiden or The Eminence in Shadow! Shadow Side Story” by Seta published in 2019, is expected to have an anime movie adaptation if the fan base remains strong for the next few years.
The anime television series adaptation was released on October 2022 and produced by Nexus ended its first season in February 2023.
Now time for news that will cheer you up! The Eminence in Shadow has already streamed a special to commemorate the final episode and to make the second season release official for the fans.

Coming to the plot, the anime is a story of a modern-day Japanese boy who wishes to become the mastermind with immense power from shadows, but unfortunately, while training he gets hit by a truck and dies.
Now just like most of the isekai series, the boy is reborn into a fantasy world as Cid Kagenou. He tries to keep his presence minimal and decides to pursue his dream of becoming a shadow manipulator covertly.
He stumbles upon an infected elven girl with a mysterious disease that Cid cures. Cid makes up a story of the cult of Diablos ruling the world and “Shadow Garden” (his secret organization) is the only one who can fight against them.
The elven girl named Alpha convinced by the story joins his organization and starts recruiting more members. Soon, Cid realizes that the fake story has turned into reality and he finds himself in a complicated power struggle while fighting Diablos under the alias “Shadow”.
The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 Plot & Expectations
The thrilling first season of The Eminence in Shadow series covered two volumes of Daisuke Aizawa’s original light novel series and 1 to 6 volumes of Anri Sakano’s manga adaptation.
The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 will continue from volume 3 onwards which will cover the Lawless City Incident arc and Corporate Alliance Conflict arc. We are expecting to see several arcane characters like the Blood Queen Elisabeth, the spirit Fox Yukime, the Legendary Vampire Hunter Mary, and Delta’s Older Brother Ole.
Assuming that the second season will be 20 episodes like the previous season then it will also cover the fourth volume containing “Black Rose” Civil War Wedding Incident and Cid’s journey to post-apocalyptic Japan with Beta.
We will also get to witness the debut of essential members of Cult of Diablos including Mordred, the 9th seat in the Knights of the Round. After season 2 there might be a long gap for season 3 because it currently has only five volumes of light novels in circulation.
