The story takes place in the distant future in which due to a calamity the human’s physiology undergoes drastic changes which make them combustible; in presence of fire (natural flame). The human civilization on the verge of collapse found a remedy which was the discovery of an alternative fuel source derived from the blood of demonic Fire Fiends.
The new source of energy is in a form of stone within the bodies of fire fiends who live in forests, the stone is capable of emitting light, steam, and energy, which makes it a valuable resource.
The people who slay fire fiends and collect the resources are called Fire Hunters. This initiated the formation of elite Fire Hunters, determined to hunt down Fire Fiends and harvest their blood for the industrial revolution. In a remote village lived a young girl named Touko who stumbles into a battle between Fire Hunter and Fire Fiend.
The Fire Hunter sacrifices his life to save Touko and in his last breaths, he tells her the name of his dog Kanata and dies. Touko feels guilty and responsible for Fire Hunter’s death making it her purpose to take Kanata and the Fire Hunter’s belonging to the capital and return them to his family.
At the same time, the Fire Hunter’s son Koushi and his sister get adopted by a wealthy family from where he learns nasty secrets related to the country’s ruling royal family. Determined to create firestone Koushi begins his research and follows in his father’s footsteps to save mankind from its ultimate doom.

In the recent era, we have seen most anime being derived from each other with sparkling clean plots, but the Fire Hunter anime seems to be more realistic and has an essence of an era that belonged to stories focused on normal people rather than superheroes. The art style itself feels nostalgic with its emphasis on the color palette and desaturated colors usage in the story.
The story is dark itself and the animation is ina juxtapositing in these modern times but they fail to surface as an artistic choice and viewers may feel that it’s just another poor execution.
The character designs are well illustrated in the sense that people look different in terms of facial expressions. The visual distinction is quite visible to the eyes. The strongest point of the anime is that people explore or live in the world without fire when they solely rely on pseudo-fire gained from fire fiends.
The underlying politics and the adventures are not up to the level but are interesting to watch. We would recommend you watch this only if you are up for some new art style.
We hope that The Fire Hunter Episode Guide will be of use to you, while you wait for the next episode you can also try watching other anime like NieR Automata, Blue Lock, Trigun Stampede, etc.
