The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1: Review and Recap

If there is one franchise other than Marvel that will most likely be able to churn content out for the next few decades without a fail, it is the Star Wars franchise. One of the most beloved series in this universe has been The Mandalorian, and the fans have been far too excited for The Mandalorian Season 3, and rightfully so.

The Mandalorian Season 3 has officially begun and the first episode is now available to stream. We have finished the episode and are ready for a recap and review, so you can make an informed decision about whether or not The Mandalorian Season 3 is worth your time. Spoiler alert: it is. But, keep reading this article to find out exactly why.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1

In this article, we will highlight what worked for us in The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1, and what we can expect from the future of this season. We have all been looking forward to this, so without wasting too much of your time, let us dive into this recap and review of The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1, which has proved to be a strong start to the much-anticipated season.

Din Djarin and Grogu are Back and Better Than Ever

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1, titled “The Apostate” gives this new season a brilliant start because it reminds the existing fans what The Mandalorian is all about, and for any newcomers, it is a great introduction to what might be in store for them when it comes to this space western.

However, if you have not watched the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, we highly recommend doing so before watching the third season, to get a better and more immersive experience of this universe.

Everyone has been looking forward to The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1, but has this episode managed to live up to the expectations that were set? Because the first two seasons have set the benchmark fairly high, so there was a lot riding on this season.

Din Djarin and Grogu

So far, so good. That only covers our first impression of The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 when we finished watching it, and frankly, after the end credits rolled, we were hoping to hop on to the next episode, but sadly, there is a week of waiting for that.

The first episode was perfectly paced with the right amount of action, banter, and plenty of screentime of our favorites, Din Djarin and Grogu. The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 made sure that the viewers were not overwhelmed with too much too soon, and we are certain that as the episodes go by, the season will pick up its pace, and the viewers will have to keep up with The Mandalorian Season 3, but all in good time.

screentime of our favorites, Din Djarin and Grogu

There is a brilliant action sequence from the get-go in The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1, which also proves that the show is only getting better in terms of CG and effects with the giant alligator-like creature that attacked a beach of Mandalorians during the helmet bestowment ceremony.

This fight on the beach has set the tone for what we can expect in terms of action sequences in future episodes, and once again, the bar has clearly been set very high. As the episode goes on, we soon realize that this first episode is all about setting the tone, reintroducing some of the important characters, and introducing the viewers to the adventure that Din Djarin and Grogu will embark on in The Mandalorian Season 3.

Also, don’t you think we have skipped over the Starfighter that the duo arrived in, it goes without saying that it is one of the coolest starships this season, and hopefully, we will get to see it for the rest of season 3! Here’s hoping there are no damages to it.

Mandalorians

Soon enough after the scene at the beach, the viewers and Din are reminded of Din’s sins of taking the helmet off and how there is no scope for redemption and he has been stripped of his title. But, Din isn’t one to back down easily and finds a loophole of sorts to achieve his redemption, and this is what sets the adventure for the next few episodes at least.

We are still a little unsure if this is more of a side quest or the main quest in The Mandalorian Season 3, but we are intrigued nonetheless. Din must now make his way to Mandalore’s mines and bathe in the living waters to wash away the sin and seek the redemption that he has been yearning for.

His journey to Mandalore is definitely going to answer some big pictures questions that Din as well as the fans have been looking forward to.

Din

One of our favorite parts of The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 was Din and Grogu’s return to Nevarro and reuniting with Greef Karga. Nevarro has come a long way since we (and Din) last saw it, and we have a feeling this won’t be the last time we walk through the streets of Nevarro.

Din’s trip to Nevarro came with a task in hand, that’s something all fans are excited about. He is hell-bent on rebuilding IG-11, and this makes sense for many reasons, but especially because this droid has been a fan favorite. We are certain that the next episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 will focus a little more on trying to rebuild IG-11.

 Nevarro

Attention to detail seems like the forte for The Mandalorian Season 3, and that only had us excited for what’s to come next. The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 was a fantastic start to the season and the world-building and continuation have been incredibly immersive and a treat to our eyes so far.

There’s more action in The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1, but it isn’t over the top, and that’s something we have always appreciated about this series. The next episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 is going to continue blowing your minds, so make sure you catch up with the first episode, or the first two seasons, in case you haven’t already! The Mandalorian is officially back, and we are ready.

The Mandalorian Season 3

Conclusion

There were no lows when it came to The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1, but maybe that’s just us being biased, despite our efforts of a completely unbiased review.

We will let you watch the episode and decide for yourself whether you agree or disagree with us. But do let us know in the comments what your thoughts about The Mandalorian Season 3 are so far!
