One of the most popular franchises that have spanned over generations is the Star Wars franchise, which saw the release of its first live-action series in 2019, and was titled, The Mandalorian.
This series starred a concept that took place five years after the events in the 1983 movie, Return of the Jedi. Originally, The Mandalorian was conceptualized years ago but was too expensive to produce, and today, it is one of the most successful series of the Star Wars franchise, which leads us to the upcoming season, The Mandalorian Season 3.
The first season was released in 2019, and the second in 2020, which left the fans curious about a third season, and after a long wait, we finally have some answers about The Mandalorian Season 3.
Fans have been on the fence for a while now, hoping to catch a glimpse of just about anything about The Mandalorian Season 3, and now that we’re inching closer to the release date, more revelations have been made. So sit tight while we tell you all about The Mandalorian Season 3, from the plot to the cast, to the release date and much more:

What is the Plot of The Mandalorian Season 3?
One of the executive producers of The Mandalorian series gave us a little glimpse into the upcoming season, however, it doesn’t give much away. In an interview with Good Morning America, Dave Filoni talks all things Star Wars and when asked about The Mandalorian Season 3, he says, “There’s a lot of new adventures coming up.
I have to be careful; I can’t really say anything specific, but I think the Force will be strong with this, let’s just say that.” While we know this doesn’t give away any major plot points, what we can derive from this statement is that The Mandalorian Season 3 will have more adventures than the previous seasons, and in turn, will be more action-packed.
We’re assuming The Mandalorian Season 3 will pick up right after the events of the end of season 2, where Moff Gideon was captured, however, his fate remains unknown, which could possibly be explored in the upcoming season.
One of the unfinished business from the previous season which will most definitely be a major plot point moving forward is the battle for the Darksaber, even though that weapon is currently in the hands of Din Djarin.
All the characters will have a lot of development in The Mandalorian 3, and there might even be redemption arcs in store for some of these characters. In 2021, The Book of Boba Fett was released on Disney+, with the same creators, and is in the same timeline as The Mandalorian. Hence, we can expect some overlaps.
Hence, to be able to enjoy The Mandalorian Season 3 entirely, we recommend watching the previous seasons, as well as The Book of Boba Fett which only has one season and seven episodes so far.
At this point, truly anything could happen. The Mandalorian Season 3 could present a whole different world or challenges, and we won’t know until the release of the series. The creators, producers, and actors have done a good job of keeping the card close to their chest.
The Cast of The Mandalorian Season 3
Fans have been incredibly worried about one casting the most, and that is Pedro Pascal reprising his role as Din Djarin. Pascal has been involved in other major projects, and people wondered if those would take precedence over The Mandalorian Season 3.
However, to put everyone’s mind at ease, Pedro Pascal will be returning for The Mandalorian Season 3 and plans on staying with this franchise for as long as the creators will have him.
If you don’t recognize Pascal just yet and are new to the Star Wars or The Mandalorian franchise, his career trajectory also includes some popular tv shows like Narcos and Game of Thrones. Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin has been one of the most popular castings in the franchise so far.
Giancarlo Esposito will also be returning as Moff Gideon, and according to sources, the actor has teased that the audiences will be seeing a lot more of him and his character in The Mandalorian Season 3.
Carl Weathers and Katee Sackhoff are returning for the upcoming season as Greef Karga and Bo-Katan respectively. There will be other cast members who might also reprise their roles, but as of now, there aren’t any solid confirmations.
Back to the Future franchise star Christopher Lloyd has seemingly joined the cast of The Mandalorian, however, his character hasn’t been revealed yet.
Gina Carano will not be returning for The Mandalorian Season 3 or the Star Wars franchise for that matter. Carano was fired from this role following her social media controversy.
She was set to appear in a spin-off series; however, the producers have cut off all ties with her. It will be interesting to see who replaces her character in the upcoming series, should they decide to replace her.
