Book-to-screen adaptations are getting more and more common and popular these days. The Power will thrive to obtain a power balance of sorts between men and women, but when science fiction comes into play, things get a lot more interesting. Imagine being a woman and waking up one day to realize that you have power, one that can cause harm to anyone or anything you wanted to. The Power will tell the story of teenage girls who obtain powers that can electrocute anything they touch, and that changes everything across the world.
This entire power given to teenage girls is going to cause an imbalance that goes against the force of nature, and it will especially show how the power balance between men and women changes over a course of time. The Power will be emotional, thrilling, and most definitely controversial. The Cast of The Power
As we mentioned, the Power is set to have an ensemble cast of brilliant women, and don’t worry, there will men too because The Power is also about balance and imbalance. However, let’s start by talking about one of the leading actresses in Hollywood and the world for that matter, Toni Collette. Collette will play the role of Margot Cleary-Lopez, the mayor of Seattle. She will definitely be playing a very important role, making some decisions that will change the face of her city. Auliʻi Cravalho will play the role of Margot’s daughter, Jos Cleary-Lopez. As Margot’s husband, we have John Leguizamo, playing the role of Rob. It will be interesting to see how these new powers change this family for the better or the worse.
Toheeb Jimoh will play the role of a journalist, Tunde because the media will definitely be playing an important role in an event like this, and how they spin the story will play an important role in how the citizens perceive it. When and Where Can You Watch The Power?
It won’t be long until you will be able to watch The Power on your screens, so we suggest you mark your calendars. Originally, filming for The Power was supposed to begin in 2019, which later got pushed to 2020. But as with many other series, there were several delays in production and filming finally began in late 2021. Now, The Power is ready and slated to release on the 31st of March, and will be exclusively available to stream on Prime Video. The Power seems on the same level as The Boys or Gen V, so it will be exciting to see the differences and similarities between these series, and if The Power will become as popular as The Boys did.
Is There a Trailer for The Power?
Prime Video recently released a teaser trailer of The Power and it has been all the hype with over two million views already. The teaser gives us a glimpse into what we can expect from the upcoming series, whether it is the political angle or the power angle, or just women being badass in general. What’s interesting are the comments on the teaser trailer because, by the looks of it, people are definitely conflicted. Most of the comments are from people who have read the original novel and are worried that the series will not do justice to it. So far, the biggest worry is that the upcoming series will not be dark enough, but as of now, we have only seen the trailer, and it might be too soon to judge. Albeit, if dystopian science fiction is your thing, then The Power might just be the perfect series for you this year.
