The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2: Final Review

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2: Final Review

For the longest time, viewers have wanted to consume media that was heartfelt, funny, and realistic at the same time, especially those in their late teens and early twenties. Shows like The Vampire Diaries or One Tree Hill definitely filled some kind of void, but again, the realistic part never really came to fruition. However, if there are two people we trust to bring us a show like this, it is Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble. Noble and Kaling have also previously worked on the popular show Never Have I Ever, and now they have blessed us with a college-themed show, The Sex Lives of College Girls.

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2: Final Review

The Sex Lives of College Girls has had two very successful seasons, and the most recent season is very fresh in our minds and we’re here to talk to you about it. If you’re familiar with this show, or if you have watched The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2, then you know how important a little debrief and review is, because this season really up the ante and made things a whole lot complicated, funny, and again, realistic. So we’re going to talk all about The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 and beware because there will be some spoilers ahead!

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2: How Did Our Favourite Girls Do This Season?

Until the season finale of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2, we’d say the four girls whose lives we have been following at Essex College were doing fairly well, but the season finale was very turbulent, and we will talk more about that later. For now, let’s focus on Whitney, Bela, Leighton, and Kimberly, because these four girls have shown us a whole lot this season and we are ready to dive into it.

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2: How Did Our Favourite Girls Do This Season?

Starting with our golden girl Leighton, whose character and story arc saw the biggest improvement in The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2. In this season, Leighton didn’t just come out of the closet to her college, but also her family, who took it shockingly well and were extremely supportive. Leighton made some questionable dating choices in The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2, however, we don’t blame her, our girl wanted to explore and we support her! But this exploration also led to more awareness about STDs in college and how easily they can spread, and just how important communication is. Of course, this was done funnily but was handled graciously by the writers of the show. Speaking of questionable dating choices, Leighton also dated Tatum, and they were almost too similar to each other. While we thought that relationship would at least see the end of this season, we were wrong. Without spoiling too much about whom Leighton ends up with, let’s just say, the right person but the wrong time can be fixed!

Leighton

Moving on to Whitney, who had a rather interesting season, she taught the viewers that it is never too late to pick up a new interest. As for Whitney’s love and sex life, that most definitely took a turn. Her insecurity and jealousy got the best of her, which led to Canaan breaking up with her, however, she found comfort and muscles in her biochemistry lab partner. The two had an enemies-to-lovers situation, but Whitney broke it off before they could even get to the lovers’ part. This relationship showed us that physical intimacy and chemistry don’t always translate to a good and stable emotional connection, and isn’t enough to be someone’s girlfriend or boyfriend. Plus, Whitney clearly has unresolved feelings for Canaan, but more on that later. The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 showed us a new side to Whitney, one that wasn’t obsessively focused on sports, and we were glad to be introduced to this side of her. However, if there is a The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3, will possibly bring Whitney back to her one true love, aka football?

Whitney

Bela gave us a fair bit of drama and it had the viewers wondering why her character arc took a toll for the worst. In season 1 of The Sex Lives of College Girls, Bela was an absolute star. She fought against misogyny, she stood up against men who thought they knew better, she even started her own magazine, and more importantly, she was kind and funny. However, The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 ruined her character arc and fans have complaints about this. In The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2, Bela is seen as jealous, rude, and even a cheater. We hope that the creators have more in place for Bela in future seasons because this simply can’t be her ending. We really thought this was going to be Bela’s season but it ended with her getting canceled on social media, and getting fired from a magazine that she started. Bela’s story also gave us one of the biggest cliffhangers of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2. Turns out, after all the unfortunate events, Bela has decided to transfer from Essex College. Can Essex survive without Bela? More importantly, can Bela survive without Essex?

Bela

Lastly, we have Kimberly, who surely saw her struggles this season, from losing her scholarship, to trying to find funding and finally selling her eggs for some money. It surely took a toll on her, but she came out of it stronger, and frankly, with one of the hottest boys around this season. The build-up to Kimberly and Jackson was a long one, and when it happened, we were all rooting for it. However, the last two episodes changed everything. Canaan, yes Whitney’s ex and Kimberly’s co-worker, invited Kimberly to attend an award ceremony with him. Everyone figured it was a friendly thing, but a slow dance and some romantic glances truly changed everything. At the end of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2, Kimberly finally gathers the courage to kiss Canaan, despite knowing how messy it will get between her and Whitney. While Canaan and Kimberly shared a passionate kiss, Whitney witnessed it all. Which led us to another sort-of cliffhanger. Whitney has decided to move into the Kappa house and abandon Kimberly who was going to live with her next year. Well, we can’t blame Whitney for this decision, can we?

Kimberly

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 was all about love, and friendship and it served us with a whole lot of realness. It doesn’t matter how old you are, if you watched The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 you most definitely learned something from this season, which is what makes it so great. Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble are truly putting their best foot forward to make sure that this show is what everyone needs, and based on the viewership and reviews, they are clearly succeeding.

Conclusion

As we said, the last two episodes of The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2 truly changed everything, but we loved every second of it. This season had a little bit of everything, and there was a whole lot of inclusiveness and awareness too. We might have some news about the future of The Sex Lives of College Girls, so make sure you check our website for any updates!
