In the recent year, several new actors and actresses have graced our screens with their brilliant performances, be it Zendaya or Tom Holland. While each of their talents have been recognized worldwide, there is an actor who has stood out and has had the spotlight on him for quite some time now, and it is none other than Timothée Chalamet.
Timothée Chalamet has become a household name, and he has plenty going on for him, and 2023 especially is going to be a big year for the man. So, here’s everything you need to know about Timothée Chalamet, from his net worth, to his biography, and much more:
Timothée Chalamet, who just turned 27, has a net worth of approximately $25 million. He began acting when he was only 12 years old, booking commercials until he got his start Off-Broadway when he was only 16. His net worth is more than several other established actors and actresses in Hollywood, who have been around for a lot longer than he has.
Timothée Hal Chalamet was born in New York City, New York, on December 27, 1995. He grew up in Manhattan Plaza in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. He holds dual United States and French citizenship and is bilingual in English and French. Growing up, he spent his summers with his paternal grandparents in Le Chambon-Sur-Lignon, a French village about two hours outside of Lyon.
He attended Columbia University for just one year. He studied cultural anthropology, but he transferred to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study since the program could be more tailor-made and allow him to work at the same time.
Chalamet’s first professional roles were in commercials and in two horror short films, Sweet Tooth and Clown. He made his television debut in 2009 on an episode of Law & Order. He made his Off-Broadway debut in 2011 in a play called The Tails, portraying a sexually curious 12-year-old in the 1970s. Chalamet then had recurring roles on the series Homeland and Royal Pains. He made his feature film debut in 2014 in Jason Reitman’s Men, Women, & Children. His first, almost mini, breakout role was that of Tom Cooper, the son of Matthew McConaughey’s character, in Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan. Interstellar grossed over $700 million worldwide. Chalamet picked up a few roles in smaller films before landing the role of the teenage version of James Franco’s character in The Adderall Diaries by Pamela Romanowsky. In 2015, he was also featured in Love the Coopers as the grandson of Diane Keaton and John Goodman.
Chalamet was chosen by playwright and director John Patrick Shanley to star in his autobiographical play, Prodigal Son, in 2016. For his role as a young Shanley, Chalamet won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Leading Actor in a Play. He also was nominated for the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance.
Chalamet’s major breakthrough came in 2017 with the release of Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name. Chalamet’s role was that of Elio Perlman, a young man who falls in love with Oliver, a university student played by Armie Hammer. The film takes place in Italy during the 1980s. For the film, Chalamet learned to play the piano and guitar and to speak Italian. The film and its cast were nominated for multiple awards, and Chalamet is the third-youngest person to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. Also in 2017, Chalamet played Daniel in Hot Summer Nights. Though the film received mixed reviews, his performance was praised. He also appeared in Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird opposite Saoirse Ronan and in Hostiles, alongside Christian Bale.
Chalamet starred in the 2018 biographical drama Beautiful Boy as Nic Sheff, a teenager addicted to methamphetamine. The film focuses on the strained relationship he has with his father, journalist David Sheff, portrayed by Steve Carell. Details of Chalamet’s performance had critics comparing him to James Dean, yet again. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, BAFTA Awards, and Golden Globe Awards.
After working with alleged sexual abuser Woody Allen on A Rainy Day in New York in 2019, Chalamet donated his salary from the film to the charities LGBT Center of New York, Time’s Up, and RAINN. In the same year, he portrayed Henry V of England in the Netflix period drama The King, directed by David Michôd. He worked with Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan once again, this time on a film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. He portrayed Theodore “Laurie” Laurence opposite Florence Pugh’s Amy March. In 2020, he hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live.
Chalamet has continued to receive praise for his recent work, including 2021’s The French Dispatch and Dune, alongside Zendaya. Dune earned over $400 million globally, marking his highest-grossing release yet. He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award as a member of the ensemble cast of Don’t Look Up. In 2022, he started in and produced Luca Guadgnino’s Bones and All.
Next up, Chalamet will reprise his role in the sequel to Dune, titled Dune: Part Two. He also will play Willy Wonka in the upcoming musical film Wonka, to be directed by Paul King.
Chalamet has been dating within Hollywood before he even became a star himself. In 2017, he began dating Lourdes Leon while they attended high school together. This is the same Lourdes whose mother is none other than pop music legend, Madonna. Lourdes said that Timothée was her first boyfriend. It seems like they were only together for about a year, from what we can tell. Currently, Lourdes is working on her music career.
Next, Chalamet met actress Lily-Rose Depp while on set for the Netflix film The King in 2018. They weren’t officially seen together until October 2018. Lily-Rose is the daughter of Hollywood film star Johnny Depp. About a year into their relationship, the couple was photographed sharing kisses on a yacht in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, and some members of the press called it a PR stunt, which Chalamet rejected. Unfortunately, the couple split up around April 2020.
Shortly after his breakup with Lily-Rose, Chalamet was seen on vacation in Cabo San Lucas at the end of June 2020 with Eiza González, the Mexican actress of Baby Driver fame. Once again, Timothée was caught making out with someone in some steamy paparazzi photos. However, his fling with Eiza seems only to have lasted as long as their trip to Cabo. Chalamet might have dated Lily-Rose Depp again afterward, and the couple was first seen together again shopping in New York City in April 2021. Nothing was ever confirmed. In April 2022, Chalamet was seen with Victoria’s Secret model Sarah Talabi enjoying singer The Weeknd’s headlining set at Coachella. However, nothing between the two has ever been confirmed.
Chalamet is the song of Nicole Flender and Marc Chalamet. His mother is a real estate broker at The Corcoran Group, but she used to be a dancer on Broadway. She also has worked as a language and dance teacher, having earned her bachelor’s degree in French from Yale University. Marc Chalament is originally from France, and he currently is a tan editor for the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund or UNICEF. He is a former correspondent for Le Parisien. Marc is originally from Nîmes, and Nicole is a third-generation New Yorker. Chalamet is of Russian Jewish and Austrian Jewish descent on his mother’s side and Canadian and French descent on his father’s side. He has an older sister, Pauline, who is also an actress.
Chalamet lives in both California and New York. He aspired to be a professional soccer player when he was younger and continues to be an avid sports fan. He is a fan of the basketball team the New York Knicks and the French soccer team AS Saint-Étienne.
Timothée Chalamet has a splendid year ahead with Wonka and Dune Part 2 as two of his biggest releases slated in 2023. If you haven’t watched Timothée Chalamet’s work yet, now’s the time for that, and let us know in the comments what your favorite role of his has been so far!
