Michael Hirst, a Canadian television producer, and author, is best known for creating the popular historical drama series Vikings, which aired on the History Channel. Currently, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Vikings Season 7, which was filmed in Ireland and initially premiered in Canada on March 3, 2013.
On December 30, 2020, the second half of the sixth season became available for streaming on Ireland’s Amazon Prime Video, signifying the conclusion of the original Vikings series. However, fans didn’t have to wait long for more Viking adventures, as on February 25, 2022, Vikings: Valhalla, a follow-up series set in the same universe, made its debut on Netflix.
Vikings, an incredibly popular series, captivates viewers with its mix of war, drama, action, and adventure. At the heart of this significant show is the story of Ragnar Lothbrok, whose adventures and explorations, alongside his family including his wife, brother, and children, drive the narrative.
The characters in Vikings possess a strong belief in their Norse Gods, reflecting the deep-rooted spirituality of the time. Furthermore, the series incorporates various historical rituals and events, drawing inspiration from the Norse and Icelandic sagas. Spanning from the year 793 onwards, Vikings takes us on a journey through several decades, immersing us in the world of the Vikings.
Rather than continuing with Vikings Season 7 solely focusing on Ragnar’s sons, the History Channel decided to shift the narrative towards another equally violent and turbulent period of Norse history.
The Vikings were a dominant cultural force in Europe for centuries, leaving a vast wealth of source material to draw upon. By exploring a broader timeline, the show can delve into new captivating stories and shed light on lesser-known aspects of Viking history.
If Vikings Season 7 is aired, the primary cast from the first six seasons is expected to return, with the possibility of some surprising additions by the showrunners. Alexander Ludwig will reprise his role as King Bjorn, while Katheryn Winnick will once again portray Lagertha.
John Kavanagh will bring The Seer to life, Marco Ilso will embody Hvitserk, and Jordan Patrick Smith will return as Ubbe. Assuming the show continues, it is likely that Alex Anderson will take on the role of Ivar the Boneless.
Additionally, Danila Kozlovsky will portray Oleg the Prophet, Ben Robson will play Kalf, and David Lindstrom will reprise his role as Sigurd.
The conclusion of Vikings season 6 marked the end of the History Channel’s portrayal of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons’ saga. However, the story continues with Vikings: Valhalla season 2, ensuring that the tale lives on.
Although Vikings Season 7 was never released, the sequel/spinoff series brings viewers back to the familiar setting of Kattegat. As of now, there is no official release date for the show, as it has not been renewed.
Despite the decline in ratings and viewer interest following Ragnar’s death, the Vikings series managed to avoid cancellation. Showrunner Michael Hirst made a creative decision to conclude the plot in Vikings season 6, rather than continuing with a seventh season. In this article, we have mentioned all the details.
It includes the plot, cast, release date, and everything else to know. Therefore, this choice resulted in only one character from season 1 surviving until the end, as their story arc had reached a natural conclusion.
Now, the question arises: Do you wish to see Season 7 of Vikings? Which one was your favorite season until now? Do let us know.
