With Dune 2 just about to release, the Guardian of the Galaxy star shares an interesting fact about part 1. Dave Bautista, who is preparing for his role as Glossu Rabban talks about a scene in the movie prequel that was kept hidden from the start and will never be shown. He talks about an interesting scene with David Dastmalchian, who plays Piter De Vries.
A fight sequel that will forever be hidden in Dune books
While talking about his character in Dune 2, Dave told Collider that there was an interesting scene with David that he wished the director could have kept as a post-credits scene. He said-
Yes…God, is he gonna be mad at me if I say?..it’s nothing major… I had a scene in the first film with Dave Dastmalchian where I was just intimidating his character…guess it just didn’t fit in or there wasn’t room or pacing issues…But yeah, I was disappointed that I didn’t cut…
Bautista describes a deleted scene where Rabban intimidates Piter, but it would have wrongly portrayed Piter as weak; which is not likely to be revealed to the viewers. Rabban’s existing scenes in Dune already showcased his strength and cruelty, so this additional scene wouldn’t have added much to his character.
Despite all this, Piter is now gone, Dune: Part Two will continue Rabban’s story as the Harkonnens face threats from Paul Atreides and the Fremen. The adaptation has a chance to enrich Rabban’s narrative with an exciting rematch against Gurney, offering a unique twist that would enhance Rabban’s destiny in the source material.
Apart from this, fans are eager to see the movie part 2. The trailer has already revealed a lot of what will be happening in the second part. With Zendaya, Timothee, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, and Dave Bautista, fans are eager to see the new chapter in Dune’s destiny.
