Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born on 23 October 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was raised in the Roman Catholic Church and is of Irish and Scottish descent. He began acting at the age of 13 while in school, and his career began in 1991 when he starred on Hillside, a Canadian soap opera, as Billy Simpson.
After playing a few smaller roles on television, Reynolds quit acting when he was 19 years old, briefly enrolling at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. After a few months – and some convincing from a fellow actor – he made the move to Los Angeles to pursue his career.
