Travis Kelce began playing for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 after signing a four-year deal worth $3.12 million. He signed a five-year extension for $46 million in 2016, with an additional $22 million in guaranteed money. This deal works out to an average annual salary of $14 million.
Kelce also has had endorsement deals with Bud Light, McDonald’s, State Farm, Nike, Papa John’s, and more, which earn him an additional $5 million or so per year. Most recently, he partnered with Pfizer to promote its educational vaccine campaign and encourage people to get their COVID-19 booster vaccines. On October 5, 1989, Travis Michael Kelce was born in Westlake, Ohio. Growing up, he played baseball, basketball, and football – all of which he played while attending Cleveland Heights High School. Football was the sport in which he shined the brightest, a three-year letter winner as a quarterback.
He attended the University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship, having received offers from several other schools. He joined his brother, Jason Kelce, who played as the starting left guard for the Bearcats. Travis played as both tight end and quarterback during his time on the team. He was named Tight End of the Year for the 2012 College Football Performance Awards. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
In the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Kelce was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs. However, he was placed on injured reserve for the season after having surgery to repair a microfracture on his knee.
